Test for Yeasts and Molds The plate method is used for testing molds and yeast in semisolids. The procedure is similar to that of the total count test. Instead of SBCDA medium, Sabouraud dextrose agar (SDA) medium or potato dextrose agar (PDA) medium is used. Samples are incubated for five to seven days at 20-25 °C to identify the presence of yeasts and molds.

A redesign of the standard(Mk.l) injection unit barrel and was completed prior to the beginning of this program. The redesign, which included the construction of associated hardware, improves temperature control and reliability of operation of the Mk. 1 Molder. The reactivation of this molder involved reassembly, debugging and test molding using polyethylene.

For molded parts with tight dimensioning tolerances, prototype parts using test molds have to be manufactured to determine the process shrinkage in different positions and in different directions. A uniform quality of the material has to be maintained. 

The target of mold making should be only to deliver a tested mold. In the meantime, many mold makers have acquired injection molding machines to perform it in house and also to ensure, taking into account the global market, short distances and short production times until final finishing. 

In order to achieve active ventilation, a test mold was provided with a vacuum interface, and molded parts were made with and without an evacuation of the cavity.

At the tested molding conditions stress concentrators did show evidence of dependency on the method that the notch was made but the Kt factor did not. 

Another possibility somce of variations between molded parts within a mold could be from dimensional differences within the molds steel. These differences conld inclnde any variations in the molds ruimer layout, actual cavity size, gate size, runner lengths, ruimer diameters or non-synunetrical venting. This study confirmed that all of these steel dimensions within the test mold were to very tight tolerance thereby minimizing this as a source of filling variations.
