A 2-L beaker is placed on an electric heating plate, clamped to a rack, and equipped with a mechanical stirrer (rod and wing in stainless steel). This reaction mixture is placed in the beaker and allowed to cool to 100 °C. From a dropping funnel, en (lOOmL, 1.50mol) is added dropwise (3-6 mL min-1) with stirring. The heat of reaction will increase the temperature, which should... [Pg.27]

Before reviewing the specific results of these experiments, two observations made during this study should be reported. To remove the books from the compressed Plexiglas plates at the end of the submersion period, a reverse torque of 15-20 kg-cm for the coated and 11-14 kg-cm for the uncoated books had to be applied to the C-clamps. This increased amount of torque required to release the clamps was a result of pressure from the expansion of the paper while it was wet. In the case of the coated-paper book, an actual bowing of the center of the Plexiglas plates clamped against this book was observed. [Pg.117]

These instructions are specific for the use of an adjustable slab electrophoresis unit Model ASG-400, from CBS Scientific, California, in conjunction with plates with a size of 16 cm x 27cm and 0.7mm thick spacers. Before casting the PAGE gel, the glass plates should be thoroughly washed, wiped with 95% ethanol and let dry. Set the spacers on the notched plate and cover it with the second nonnotched plate. Clamp the sides of the plates and lay the gel horizontally on a small platform. Rinse a four well preparative comb with... [Pg.404]

It is not essential to use a tank at all. A sandwich can be made consisting of a second glass plate clamped firmly over the sorbent surface (Figure 3.8). This sandwich can then be placed into a normal development chamber or into a special trough designed to prevent solvent loss. [Pg.66]

Where large plates are to be lifted, plate clamps (Fig. 19.19) are available which are used to vertically lift plate up to 130 mm thick and having aSWL of 30 tonnes. [Pg.324]

System leakproofing also depends on mould rigidity, and to increase this, some manufacturers recommend extra torsion on the monld plates clamping the manifold by bolts located near to tbe nozzles - two bolts per nozzle (see Figure 4.61). The aim is to increase the clamping force in the open mould and eliminate the risk of leakage caused by residual melt pressure in the HR system. [Pg.167]

In this investigation, various basis functions of biharmonic and Laplace s equations for multiply connected circular and semicircular regions have been obtained. Among these are biharmonic functions suitable for a perforated circular plate clamped on its outer boundary. Another class of biharmonic functions are suitable for the problem of heat transfer in a... [Pg.199]

To show the validity of the solutions, the results produced in this investigation are compared with those obtained by Conte [6], and El-Saden [7] for the special case of a circular region with one cavity (see Figure 4). Conte solved the problem of a perforated circular plate clamped along its outer edge ... [Pg.205]

A circular plate clamped at the edges has previously been considered in Section 13.10.6. In that example the deflection of a plate under uniform loading was considered. The example here is somewhat similar but is fliat of flie time dependent vibration of a clamped circular membrane such as a circular drum head. The describing PDE is of the form ... [Pg.977]
