Test methods appropriate

Degradable plastic is a plastic designed to undergo a significant change in its chemical stmcture under specific environmental conditions, resulting in a loss of some properties that may vary as measured by standard test methods appropriate to the plastic and the appHcation in a particular period of time that determines its classification. 

Due to the outer circumference of the silo, about 25 meters, a non- or rarely destructive testing method was needed for the localization. Because the building was still in use, it was only accessable from the exterior side. We chose the ultrasonic pulse-echo-technique as an appropriate way of doing the testing. 

The assessment of the contribution of a product to the fire severity and the resulting hazard to people and property combines appropriate product flammabihty data, descriptions of the building and occupants, and computer software that includes the dynamics and chemistry of fires. This type of assessment offers benefits not available from stand-alone test methods quantitative appraisal of the incremental impact on fire safety of changes in a product appraisal of the use of a given material in a number of products and appraisal of the differing impacts of a product in different buildings and occupancies. One method, HAZARD I (11), has been used to determine that several commonly used fire-retardant—polymer systems reduced the overall fire hazard compared to similar nonfire retarded formulations (12). 

Analytical and Test Method. Gas chromatography is appropriate for the quantitiative analysis of malononitrile. Typical analysis conditions are 3% Reoplex 400 on Chromosorb G 80—100 mesh 2 m, 2 mm diameter column temperature for column = 60 180° C injector, 200°C and detector, 200°C. The solidification point is usually measured also. 

Standards have been a part of technology since building began, both at a scale that exceeded the capabiUties of an individual, and for a market other than the immediate family. Standardization minimizes disadvantageous diversity, assures acceptabiUty of products, and faciUtates technical communication. There are many attributes of materials that are subject to standardization, eg, composition, physical properties, dimensions, finish, and processing. Implicit to the realization of standards is the availabiUty of test methods and appropriate caUbration techniques. Apart from physical or artifactual standards, written or paper standards also must be considered, ie, their generation, promulgation, and interrelationships. 

The second aspect of quahty documentation is to detail how the work processes referred to in the manual are performed. The QA unit is often the organization responsible for issuing a set of procedures designed to assure conformance to the appropriate standards or to company poHcy. The procedures, often called standard operation procedures (SOP) or quahty operating procedures (QOP), should include such topics as customer complaints, audit protocols, stabihty testing, preparation of COAs, test method vahdation, etc.

To meet this requirement for documented procedures you will need two types of procedure procedures which provide for the necessary inspections and tests to be planned and carried out at the appropriate stage of the process and procedures for carrying out the specific inspections and tests. However, this is not to say that you need to document how you conduct every type of inspection or test. You only need procedures which define how inspections and tests are to be performed when the lack of them will adversely affect the result. Where the inspection and test methods are no more than using the tools of the trade, no procedures will be necessary providing the acceptance criteria are specified in a specification, drawing, or other such document. 

As the DI plant becomes exhausted, silica leakage occurs in the treated MU water and the pH falls abruptly. Furthermore, where sodium ion leakage occurs from the cation bed, it produces a regenerative effect on the anion bed, which may also lead to silica leakage. To differentiate between the two phenomena, sodium ion leakage from the cation bed should be assessed directly using selective sodium-ion electrodes, flame photometric analysis, or other appropriate test methods.

For pharmacopeial materials scientific data are not normally required in the application provided that the method of production is such that uncontrolled impurities will not be present in the material. Otherwise the impurities concerned should be declared and appropriate specifications and test methods put forward. 

The QA/QC lab, then, would particularly benefit from LIMS technology which would mechanize the collection and analysis of data from routine tests, which would assure and document adherence to appropriate test methods and specifications, and which would include automatic limit checking and pass/fail determination.
