Design Tasks

Environmental issues are being addressed more and more heavily in today s and future society. Thus, it is natural that in industrial processes and in their design, environmental effects are also considered over the whole life cycle. The life cycle of the production process can be divided into four parts design, construction, operation, and end of the process. Each part consists of different tasks. Design methodology is a part of the whole process from starting point to grave. The life... [Pg.15]

The traditional approach, because it sees the major causes of errors and accidents as being attributable to individual factors, does not encourage a consideration of the underlying causes or mechanisms of error. Thus, accident data-collection systems focus on the characteristics of the individual who has the accident rather than other potential contributory system causes such as inadequate procedures, inadequate task design, and communication failures. [Pg.48]

Performance-on-Line is a software-based cognitive and psychomotor divided-attention task designed to evaluate tunnel vision, a rapid change in visual system activity in response to stress, that at elevated levels is associated with driving risk.67 The task was derived from the hardware-based Simulated Evaluation of Driver Impairment (SEDI) distributed by SEDICorp. SEDI was... [Pg.120]

Detailed design methods for COV prediction is presented here for Kenics equipment because the design methods are readily available and space is limited in this text. Several other vendors supply equipment, which will perform all in-line blending tasks. Design information can be readily obtained by contacting individual vendors. However, it is advisable to have a workable design in hand before contacting vendors. [Pg.307]

Alcohol impairs psychomotor skills. In tasks designed to measure these skills, participants arc required to make controlled muscular movements to adjust or position a machine or some mechanism on an experimental apparatus in response to changes in the speed or direction of a moving object (for example, Levine, Kramer, Levine, 1975, p. 288). A common example is the pursuit rotor task, in which the participant must keep a stylus on a target that moves circularly on an automated disk. [Pg.220]

In order to support managers in their coordination tasks, design processes have to be dealt with at an appropriate level of detail. We may roughly distinguish between three levels of granularity ... [Pg.303]

Issues related to variations in measured THg associated with actual crude oil samples acquired using field sampling techniques from actual pipelines and from tankers during discharge to refinery tanks were examined. The items of concern were organized by task with each task designed to answer specific questions. Tasks were added and analytical procedures changed as data were acquired in the course of the experimental work. [Pg.185]
