In our attempts to achieve gene delivery in vascular endothelial cells in vitro and in vivo, we have observed significantly higher transduction using rAAV serotype 1 and 5 vectors (Chen et al., 2005). Other investigators have incorporated endothelial-specific ligands such as SIGYPLP in AAV capsids, and reported increased transduction efficiency in endothelial cells in culture (Nicklin et al., 2001).
