Target acquisition

Target acquisition is easy there is no need to position the object carefully on the slit. 

Infrared radiation is used for both civil and military applications. The military applications are target acquisition, surveillance, homing and tracking. IR flares are used in military applications mainly for two purposes tracking a missile and decoying enemy missiles [13, 14]. Depending on their applications, IR flares are classified into three different classes. 

The target acquisition system is likely to use an IR detector tuned to the typical emission spectrum of armored vehicles. It is understood, however, that a mm-band radiometric correlator is also being considered, the latter having the advantage of being less affected by environmental conditions than an IR system... 

Several DDA add-ons and alternatives have been proposed in order to tackle the issues of poor reproducibility and proteome coverage. These studies can be grouped into two categories (i) hypothesis-driven acquisition (HDA), also called targeted acquisition and (ii) data-independent acquisition (DIA).

Military program managers and field commanders believe that in future military conflicts the UAVs will play a critical role in battlefields and in remote hostile areas. Technical articles published in the June 2009 edition of Military and Aerospace Electronics revealed that defense planners are leaning toward the deployment of unmanned vehicles for underwater reconnaissance, mine detection and destruction, and antisubmarine warfare activities. Furthermore, military commanders are considering the deployment of robot vehicles to undertake reconnaissance, surveillance, target acquisition, mine and I ED detection, and disposal missions in forward battlefield areas. Some of these vehicles are equipped with deadly Hellfire missiles to destroy hostile targets.

Participants. Ten participants were recruited from the university, high school and members of the public in the Manchester Area (mean age=18.8, SD=9.1). All participants (8 female, 2 male) have some computer and mouse experience (mean=3.2 years, SD=2.6). None of the participants was familiar with the target acquisition task. All participants signed informed consent forms before the experiment. 

Training sessions with both modalities. Each participant performed 16 target acquisition trials for each tool and each of the bar and circle targets. A stimulus used in the experiment is shown in Fig. 4.
