Most of the chiral membrane-assisted applications can be considered as a modality of liquid-liquid extraction, and will be discussed in the next section. However, it is worth mentioning here a device developed by Keurentjes et al., in which two miscible chiral liquids with opposing enantiomers of the chiral selector flow counter-currently through a column, separated by a nonmiscible liquid membrane [179]. In this case the selector molecules are located out of the liquid membrane and both enantiomers are needed. The system allows recovery of the two enantiomers of the racemic mixture to be separated. Thus, using dihexyltartrate and poly(lactic acid), the authors described the resolution of different drugs, such as norephedrine, salbu-tamol, terbutaline, ibuprofen or propranolol. 

Sodium polymethacrylates are also anionic and are useful as iron oxide dispersants and iron stabilizers. Typical MWs range from 6,000 to 20,000. Examples include Polacryl F70-40S, Tamol 850, Tamol 960, and Aquatreat AR-232.

At the end of polymerization the mixture was treated with an additional 100 ml of cyclohexane solvent to fluidify the medium, 1 ml of 1M acetylacetone in cyclohexane added to stop the reaction, and A-l,3-dimethylbutyl-A -phenyl-p-phenylenediamine (0.02 g) added as an antioxidant. Polyisoprene was then extracted by steam stripping for 30 minutes in the presence of calcium tamolate. Each extraction was then dried for approximately 18 hours in an oven at 50°C under 200 mmHg vacuum for 72 hours. Reaction scoping results are provided in Table 1. 

TAMOL dispersants have wide application in the textile industry as primary and auxiliary dispersants for dyes, pigments, or fillers to give better suspension, color value, fluidity, and grinding properties. Unlike many dispersants, these light-colored products do not change color at high temperatures or upon exposure to light and, thus, do not alter the color of dyestuffs.

Salbutamol has additive effects with theophylline, which can potentiate the hypokalemic effect (SEDA-17, 164). In 14 healthy volunteers, theophylline increased salbu-tamol-induced hjrpokalemia and in some individuals there was profound hypokalemia (less than 2.5 mmol/1) (35). Combining theophylline with salbutamol increased the tachycardia resulting from the salbutamol infusion. Salbutamol infusion caused a fall in diastolic and a rise in systolic blood pressure, which was not altered by theophylline. 

A 55-year-old asthmatic woman had subacute liver injury with severe hepatic necrosis and eosinophilic infiltrates while taking zafirlukast 20 mg bd and salbu-tamol sulfate nasal spray for 5 months (4). There was no evidence of viral, metabolic, alcohol-related, or autoimmune hepatitis. Zafirlukast was withdrawn and liver function normalized within 2 months. 

It consists essentially in reacting aqueous solutions of sodium azide and lead azide in the presence of solutions of dextrin and Tamol SN (surface active agent) at 60°C with an agitator revolving at 275 rpm. After cooling, the mother liquor was decanted, the precipitate washed with water, alcohol and dried.
