Synthesis of Gold-Containing Mixed-Metal Cluster Complexes

SYNTHESIS OF GOLD-CONTAINING MIXED-METAL CLUSTER COMPLEXES 

Au3CoRu3(CO)12(PPh3)3. The first two preparations are minor modifications of those reported in the literature.6,8 

H[AuC14] + 2PPh3 + H20 — AuCl(PPh3) + Ph3PO + 3HC1 

Hydrogen tetrachloroaurate(l —), H[AuCl4]nH20, or brown gold chloride, was obtained from Johnson Matthey this compound is quite hygroscopic, and may plate out gold on metal spatulas. Triphenylphosphine was obtained from BDH Chemicals.
