Synthesis of Core

A family of homologous p3-galactosyltransferase genes encoding enzymes that transfer to GlcNAc and to GalNAc has been identified recently [14], but the Core 1 Gal transferase has not yet been cloned. [Pg.649]

Leptosins D-F (258a-c, Scheme 39) [94JCS(P1)1859] were isolated by Takahashi and co-workers from the culture of a strain of Leptosphaeria sp. as cytotoxic substances against the P388 lymphocytic leukemia cell line comparable to that of mitomycin C. Utilizing the nucleophilic substitution reaction of 1-hydroxytryptamines, a simple methodology for the synthesis of core structures of leptosins has been developed (2000H1255). [Pg.139]

The conversion of the cyclic hexamer of fiiran and acetone into naphthafiirophane was reported <96TL6201>. Stepwise synthesis of core-modified, zncso-substituted porphyrins (e.g., 19) was achieved by acid catalyzed condensations <96TL197>. [Pg.122]

Takahashi and coworkers described the one-pot synthesis of core 2 branched oligosaccharides [236], It was found that boron trifluoride complexed with a tri-methylsilyl ether would enhance the nucleophilidty of the silyl ether. Abstract. An overview of the synthesis and applications of microgels and coreshell particles is provided, with emphasis on work originating from the author s laboratory. Microgels, which are cross-linked polymer latex particles, can be used for selective uptake of ions or polymers, or the controlled release of various compounds. Various methods for the synthesis of core-shell particles are described such as interfacial polymerization, layer-by-layer deposition, colloidosomes , internal phase separation, and silica shells. The release kinetics for controlled (sustained or triggered) release purposes is discussed. [Pg.11]

Core-shell nanoparticles can also be fabricated using microemulsions. This was performed using a two-stage microemulsion polymerization beginning with a polystyrene seed [62]. Butyl acrylate was then added in a second step to yield a core-shell PS/PBA morphology. The small microlatex led to better mechanical properties than those of similar products produced by emulsion polymerization. Hollow polystyrene particles have also been produced by microemulsion polymerization of MMA in the core with crosslinking of styrene on the shell. After the synthesis of core-shell particles with crosslinked PS shells, the PMMA core was dissolved with methylene chloride [63]. The direct cross-... [Pg.265]

O-glycan core structures in many cells. The core 1 structure is also called T antigen in pathologic studies. Core 1 fSl,3-galactosyltransferases (core 1 fil,3GalT), which are responsible for the synthesis of core 1 disaccharide, have been purified recently (83, 84). [Pg.408]

Derivative 13 was deprotected to give the triheptoside backbone of the Salmonella core [19], but the protecting pattern in 13 was also chosen to allow further synthesis of core structures. Thus, debenzylation of 13 to give the 2, 3, 4 -triol, followed by the orthoester protocol, once more gave a 3 -OH acceptor (14), which was reacted with methyl 2,3,4,6-tetra-O-benzyl-l-thio- -o-gluco-pyranoside and DMTST to give the tetrasaccharide 15 (Scheme 7). [Pg.180]
