Suspicious object

Confirm suspicious objects with high dry objectives (x40 to x50). 

A commercial explosive trace detection system, Hitachi DS-120E, based on a quadrupole mass spectrometer was built [7], Ionization is carried out by corona discharge and APCI. Sampling is carried out by wiping surfaces on suspicious objects for traces of explosives. The wipe sheet is inserted into the detection system, where it is heated in order to desorb the trace explosives into the ion source. Analysis time is 5-10 s. 

Two methods are primarily used to detect hidden explosives, as shown in Figure 21.1 bulk detection, which determines the existence of suspicious objects such as knives, firearms, and explosive devices from their shapes and trace detection, which detects the presence of explosive contaminants by chemical analysis of vapor from objects. 

In bulk detection, physical imaging technology, which features the use of X-rays, neutron beams, and electromagnetic waves, for example, is applied to identify explosives and explosive devices by exposing the size, shape, and weight of the suspicious object in an image. 

Experience has also shown that reasonable protective actions can only be taken if the area of impact can be accurately identified. People within the footprint then are told to report and not to handle suspicious objects. Other protective action, such as restrictions on food, is not warranted until monitoring is conducted. Once a suspicious object is identified, the event is very similar to the case discussed above involving contamination from an unknown source. 

If a suspicious object is spotted and thought to be a bomb the local authorities need to be notified and a bomb disposal unit contacted to ranove the object. 

If a bomb threat is made at your facility, always take the threat seriously. Immediately notify a supervisor or the safety manager of the threat and evacuate the premises (do not search for a bomb unless instructed by police to look for foreign or suspicious objects). 

Let us now turn to the case T -> 0. First of all, somewhat suspicious is the combination of the continuous integral (2.1) with the discrete partition function Zq (2.13), usual for CLTST. An orderly system for interaction of the authorities on all levels including lifeguards, ecological, sanitary and epidemiological service, specialized from the radiological protection organizations was created in the Dnepropetrovsk district in order to counteract with a well-timed reaction to any information about suspicious for radiation objects.
