Supplier catalog databases

These include public and private stores of structures, either inside the organization (see Corporate Proprietary Databases, Section 5.3.8) or in the public literature (.see Full-text Databases, Section 5.3.9). The rights to the useful aspects may be already patented (see Patent Databases, Section 5.3.10), or the chemical (or a precursor) can be bought commercially (see Supplier Catalog Databases, Section 5.3.11). 

ChemExper ChemExper is a company that joins together the areas of chemistry, computer science, and telecoimnunication. The ChemExper Chemical Directory is a free service that allows finding a chemical by its molecular formula, lUPAC name, common name, CAS niunber, catalog number, substracture or physical characteristics, as well as chemical suppliers. This database contains currently more than 500,000 chemicals, 16,000 material safety data sheet (MSDS), 10,000 infrared (IR) spectra, and more than 500 chemical suppliers. 

ChemCats (Chemical Catalogs Online) from CAS is a catalog database containing information on nearly 44,000,000 commercially available chemicals and their worldwide suppliers. ChemLisi (Regulated Chemicals Listing) from CAS is a collection of more than 248,000 regulated chemical substances. 

Factual databases may provide the electronic version of printed catalogs on chemical compoimds. The catalogs of different suppliers of chemicals serve to identify chemical compounds with their appropriate synonyms, molecular formulas, molecular weight, structure diagrams, and - of course - the price. Sometimes the data are linked to other databases that contain additional information. Structure and substructure search possibihties have now been included in most of the databases of chemical suppliers. 

Prospector web Prospector Web is an interactive database used to find and compare plastic materials. You can specify your application requirements to search a catalog of nearly all North American plastics and increasing amounts of plastics data from European and Pacific Rim material suppliers. Materials can be searched by any of 200+ properties, reviewed, sorted, and compared to determine the material best fitted to your needs. Test data is available in both English or Metric units and ASTM or ISO format. Both Prospector Web and its sister product Prospector Desktop come with IDES s exclusive Plastics Materials Hotline to help with questions that may arise. 

WWW chemicals at http //www.chem.com enables chemists to search catalogs and directories of suppliers, distributors, and manufacturers to find chemicals and equipment. Its Structures database offers access to 127,000 3-D structures from the NCI (National Cancer Institute) database. 

The FOI Online Web site (cited previously) also enables keyword searching of a huge retrospective collection of FDA Warning Letters, as well as FDA Guidance documents. Both of these compilations complement those offered on the FDA web site. Since the database supplier is also a document delivery service, the online file serves as a catalog of materials stored in-house after being obtained through Freedom of Information Act provisions. This means that items not separately listed or readily searchable on the FDA Web site are indexed at FOI Online. For example, the database provides separate... 

Consolidated chemical catalogs from various suppliers provides physical properties and safety data links to molfiles and MSDS Chemical directory, with links to several property databases... 

CHEMCATS is an online database accessible through Chemical Abstracts that contains over 13 million commercially available compounds, including pricing information when available from suppliers and for many also direct hyperlinks to suppliers sites. CHEMCATS is routinely updated with new information provided by suppliers already in the database and with new suppliers and/or catalogs. This is another commercial product, but there is no up front fee pricing is based on pay as you go and can be accessed through STN Easy (http //smeasy.cas.org/). 

The cloud-based platforms provide databases, which may be used for procurement and order fulfillment. For example, it may contain information about suppliers supplier s product list, prices, and availability. Companies can use this information to select suppliers that match the buyer s needs, according to specifications and time schedules. It may also provide databases of integrated product catalogs, discussed in Chap. 5. Moreover, cloud-based tools can help companies in developing supply contracts. 

The catalogs are those from 1993 to 1997. There are more than 366360 records (12/97), more than 588 112 products (12/97), 335 suppliers (12/97), and 375 catalogs (12/97) in the database which is reloaded when hew or revised information becomes available.

The.se databases have an important role to fill from a supply point of view, and mention should be made of the MDL Available Chemicals Directory (ACD), which coordinates the offerings of many suppliers. Containing over 240 catalogs representing over 500000 products and 2(X)000 substances, the ACD provides an efficient way to reliably source and comparison-shop for commercially available chemicals. The database contains all of the necessary information to select a vendor s product on the basis of a review of the purity, grade, and quantity desired, and then to place an order with the manufacturer or a local distributor.
