SUBJECTS briquettes

The most widely employed thermal reduction process for preparing Mg metal uses PeSi as reducing agent. Mixtures of the substrate, usually calcined dolomite (i.e., MgO, CaO) and PeSi are fabricated into briquettes with a hydrocarbon binder and loaded into Ni-Cr steel (15/28) retorts. After evacuation the retort is subjected to a temperature gradient Mg distills from the hot mixture (at 1150°C) and high-purity Mg crystals collect at the water-cooled end of the retort ... [Pg.370]

If a material is subjected to very high compaction forces, it may be formed into sheets, briquettes or tablets. In the tableting machines used for producing pills of pharmaceuticals, the powder is compressed into dies, either with or without the addition of a binder. [Pg.142]

The compacting of a particulate mass by subjecting it to nominally equal pressure from every direction. The area surrounding briquette pockets on the roll surface of briquetters. [Pg.15]

Surface Chemistry. The schedule of sample exposure during the first year of the test program was as follows for each three-month period, briquettes were exposed in racks and then replaced with fresh samples for the following three-month period. An additional set of briquettes was exposed for the entire year, and other samples present in the racks are part of a planned multiyear exposure program. Quarterly withdrawals for chemical analysis are to be made for two years, after which a cumulative annual frequency is to be maintained. One set of samples is continuously exposed for posterity or for unforeseen developments. Three samples of each stone type are employed in each cycle of tests. The plan is subject to change in the light of analysis results as they are produced. [Pg.269]

Rapidly solidified powders of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloys were produced by high-pressure water atomization of the melt (method WA-N) [4], This process provides cooling rates up to 106 K/s. Compaction was performed by the preliminary compaction at room temperature of powder into briquettes, followed by insertion into a capsule. The capsules were hermetically sealed, then the briquettes were subjected to hot degassing and compaction. The composition, powder size fraction used from the WA-N process, and properties of rods of 6 mm in diameter (A, = 17.7) in T6 condition are given in Table 2. [Pg.167]

XRF is carried out on pressed briquettes or fused beads. Lithium and boron caimot be determined by XRF. Fusion with sodium carbonate is carried out before the aqueous leachate is subjected to AAS,... [Pg.321]
