Subject sigma

Values subject to slight corrections to conform to certain relationships between sigma constants. [Pg.508]

The polysilanes are compounds containing chains, rings, or three-dimensional structures of silicon atoms joined by covalent bonds. Recently, polysilane high polymers have become the subject of intense research in numerous laboratories. These polymers show many unusual properties, reflecting the easy delocalization of sigma electrons in the silicon-silicon bonds. In fact, the polysilanes exhibit behavior unlike that for any other known class of materials. [Pg.6]

Both phencyclidine and ketamine bind with high affinity to a number of receptors in the brain, but it is now accepted that the primary target is the sigma-PCP receptor site located in the ion channel of the NMDA excitatory amino acid receptor complex. The precise function of this receptor in the brain is still the subject of debate. It is now known that there are two distinct sigma receptor sites in the mammalian brain (ctj and a2) which are not associated with the NMDA receptor complex. Haloperidol and the atypical neuroleptic remoxipride bind with high affinity to such sites, and it has been postulated that some typical and atypical neuroleptics may owe some of their pharmacological effects to their action on such receptors. [Pg.409]

The nature of the boron-nitrogen sigma bond has been subject of many investigations 3 >. Heterocyclic molecules are particularly suitable systems for studying the bonding between boron and nitrogen. This feature has been a primary driving force in the studies of 1,3,2-diazaboracycloalkanes. [Pg.111]

Society for Quality at www.asq.org offers many entries into the subject. And a search at amazon.com for Six Sigma books already produced 6666 hits in May 2004. Fashions change quickly enough that it seems pointless to provide more detailed recommendations for follow up on the subject.)... [Pg.208]

In order to determine the independent effect of cellulose on manganese bioavailability, manganese tolerance tests were administered with 15 g of alpha cellulose (Sigma Co., Inc., St. Louis, MO) to six human subjects. The cellulose was given in gelatin capsules in addition to a 40 mg dose of manganese as MnCl. and 200 ml of deionized water. As seen in Figure 4, the addition of cellulose to... [Pg.116]

It was also shown, that dicarbollide ions could be subjected to similar reactions with other electrophilic agents, such as acyl chlorides,14 trialkylsilyl chlorides,15 diphenyl chloro phosphine16 etc., and yield boron sigma-bonded derivatives of dicarba-wufo-unde-caborates. [Pg.210]

All of these excited states are subject to differential relaxation and correlation effects. Some ligand excited states, such as the (mr ) Soret bands of porphine, are subject to actual and artifactual Rydberg-valence mixing. Even in the absence of the metal, these can only be unraveled by calculations which include extensive sigma-pi correlation. [Pg.155]

Conformational isomers (conformers) are stereoiso-meric forms characterized by different relative spatial arrangements of atoms that result from rotation about sigma bonds. Thus, unlike configurational isomers, conformers are interconverting stereochemical forms of a single compound. The nature of conformational and configurational stereoisomerism, as well as the role of stereoisomerism in drug activity is the subject of this article. [Pg.2142]

It should be noted that one is not restricted to log D and pKa combinations. By using log D and a parameters for example, the a-term will represent only the electronic component related to mechanism. On the subject of sigma values, care should be taken to use ortho values for o-substituents [see Norrington et a (14)] when acidity is a property of interest. Both StockdaTF and Selwyn (13 ) and Motais et al (15) for the phenols of Table V used, for example, 0.23 instead of 0.68 for o-chloro 0.80 instead of 1.24 for o-nitro. [Pg.503]
