The presence of stabilizer has little effect on poly (vinyl chloride) carboxylation (Table VIII). Since the other polymers were also subjected to the carboxylation process without removing commercial additives such as antioxidants, UV and thermal stabilizers, antiblocking agents, etc.—the additives inhibit neither the polymerization of the styrene-maleic anhydride complex nor the grafting reaction. 

The effect of flax fiber modification and the effect on the presence of TCL were also studied by Arbelaiz et al. [17]. In his studies, fibers were subjected to maleic anhydride, vinyltrimetoxy silane, and aUcali with addition of MAPP-grafted polypropylene. All applied modifications produced improvement in the thermal stability of lignocellulosic material. Analysis of the crystalline structure showed the increase of crystallinity as a result of fiUer addition. Nucleation density around unmodified fibers was higher than around fibers modified with maleic anhydride. The interaction between various compounding phases can be optimised by the grafting of base polymer with maleic anhydride ans other polar structures [157]. EB treatment is proper way for the modification of polyethylene, that be further subjected to addition of mineral filler, for example magnesium oxide (MgO).
