Structures dismantling

Preferably, the HjS flare system should consist of a segregated header and separate line routed up the side of a conventional elevated flare stack, sharing the same structure, pilots and igniters. However, the HjS header may be tied into the regular flare seal drum if there are special mechanical design problems associated with the separate stack e.g., in the case of a flare which is to be dismantled for overhaul. Flare elevation must be sufficient to meet atmospheric pollution and ground level concentration requirements for the sulfur dioxide produced. [Pg.279]

Compound 14 can be dismantled in a productive fashion by ret-rosynthetic cleavage of the indicated bonds (see Scheme 4). The intermolecular attack of the amino group in 15 upon the keto function in 16 would be expected to result in the formation of the desired oxime ether after loss of a water molecule. A few functional group manipulations would then complete the synthesis of intermediate 14. A valuable structural feature of 15 is the C-2 oxygen substituent. Although this oxygen atom is not expressed in the natural product, it would certainly play an important role in our... [Pg.530]

We are also, both at state and Federal levels, dismantling the legal and regulatory structures that have maintained the monopoly power of yesterday s electricity sector. Twenty four states have already implemented some form of deregulation Industry and the states are taking the lead and moving forward, as they should. But federal legislation is still critical. [Pg.53]

The pall of fog that has shrouded the sister separation process for over a century is starting to lift and this long mysterious process has started to reveal its secrets. There is now convincing evidence that the sudden movement of chromosomes to the poles at the onset of anaphase is triggered by cleavage of specific sister chromatid cohesion proteins. Future research must address the structural basis of cohesion and how it is established only at replication forks. It must also address the generality of mechanisms that dismantle cohesion at the metaphase to anaphase transition and how mistakes in this process contribute to human disease. [Pg.128]

Other Factors. ECT no doubt destroys the homeostasis of the cancerous cells by profoundly disturbing their microenvironment and by dismantling their structure. It might also lead to the inhibition of their DNA synthesis. It has been speculated that ECT might release the Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF) or, somehow super-activate the immune system at the tumor site. [Pg.491]

Decontamination of Systems, Structures, and Components, 24 Removal of Systems, Structures, and Components, 24 Risks During Dismantlement, 24 Closure Safety and Health Risks, 25 Contaminated Material and Equipment, 26 Safety Program, 26... [Pg.13]

Finding 17. The introduction of new structural risks during closure operations is a potential source of accidents. Dismantlement and removal of building structural components, such as the concrete floors of the explosion containment rooms, could pose added risks of structural instability during closure operations, as could temporary loadings from stacked materials or heavy equipment. [Pg.26]

The JACADS closure activities will involve the dismantling and destruction of that portion of the facility that cannot be decontaminated to meet the 5R cleanliness standard. An area decommissioning matrix delineates the areas that will be decontaminated and dismantled, decontaminated and abandoned in place, or solely abandoned in place (U.S. Army, 2000c). The remaining systems, structures, and components (SSCs) that are left in place must meet the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) criteria for decontamination as well as the Army standard of 5R. Areas that were kept free of any agent or hazardous materials will be sampled to demonstrate their cleanliness in accordance with the final closure sampling and analysis plan. [Pg.34]

Dismantling operations will create materials that are heavy and unwieldy. Handling heavy objects will create a risk of damaging structures and equipment still in operation or intended for abandonment in place. Workers could also incur risks. The placement and use of lifting equipment must be carefully planned to minimize the possibility of boom overload, collision of a boom or load with fixed objects, and contact with energized electrical distribution lines. [Pg.47]

I suspect, as Naranjo 39 has suggested, that the synthesis of the psychotherapy techniques of the west and the spiritual disciplines of the East will form one of the most powerful tools for understanding ourselves that has ever existed. The various kinds mindfulness and nonattachment techniques are the ultimate tools because of their generality, but there may be some psychological structures in the personality that have so much energy, are so implicit, or are so heavily defended that they must be dealt with using specific psychotherapeutic techniques to dismantle them. [Pg.267]

The aim of the remediation plan launched by the Government (CIPE Resolution 20.12.94) was to eliminate the environmental risk due to former industrial activity, and to recover the land to make it usable for a new and different use, in accordance with the new urban development plans of the Naples City Council. The project called for dismantling of plants and structures and subsequent removal of pollutants by means of appropriate actions of environmental recovery. [Pg.357]

In order to understand the logic of dynamic instability, we need to keep in mind that cytoskeletal filaments are unstable only when their ends are not attached to particular molecules that have the ability to anchor them. Every microtubule, for example, starts from an organising centre (the centrosome), and the extremity which is attached to this structure is perfectly stable, whereas the other extremity can grow longer or shorter, and becomes stable only when it encounters an anchoring molecule in the cytoplasm. If such an anchor is not found, the whole microtubule is rapidly dismantled and another is launched in another direction, thus allowing the cytoskeleton to explore all the cytoplasm s space in a short time. [Pg.179]

The dynamic features listed above are often combined in many types of supramolecular structure. The mitotic and meiotic spindles are excellent examples. The spindles are built for the purpose of separating the chromosomes to the daughter cells of a dividing cell and are then dismantled. The separation of chromosomes, of course, requires mechanical work and the expenditure of energy by components in the spindle. [Pg.108]

A remarkable feature of cytoskeletal networks is that common elements can be incorporated into widely different structures in various parts of a cell. Networks can be dismantled in one part of a cell while other networks are being constructed from similar components in another. In fact, some networks undergo construction at one of their ends while simultaneously being dismantled at the other. [Pg.131]
