Structural moldings

Foams have limited use for these purposes. Rigid cellular PVC is good as a thermal barrier but not for structural parts. Doors and frames of structural molded foam, eg, foamed high impact polystyrene, can be made by injection molding, with recesses for hinges, striker plates, and miter corners. Solid polystyrene and structural foam-molded polyurethane have been molded for door frames. [Pg.335]

The largest segment of the CASE family of polyurethanes are elastomers. Cast polyurethane elastomers reached a new dimension when high pressure impingement mixing led to reaction injection molding (RIM). This technology is used widely in the automotive industry, and reinforced versions (RRIM) and structural molded parts (SRIM) have been added in more recent years. [Pg.350]

The ECN resins are multifunctional, solid polymers characterized by low ionic and hydrolyzable chlorine impurities, high chemical resistance, and good thermal performance. The ECN resins are widely used as base components in high-performance electronic and structural molding compounds, micro-chip encapsulation, high—temperature adhesives, structural molding powders, etc. [Pg.116]

In structural molding, the glass mat should fill the entire mold cavity leaving no empty areas between mat and mold wall. The mat therefore... [Pg.451]

Compression molding is a relatively simple and inexpensive procedure for the manufacture of moderate piece counts. For the production of bipolar plates compression molds with surface structured inserts were designed and manufactured. For the molding, the granulate can directly be molded in a heated mold under high pressure. Another way is the direct extmsion of a profile (semifinished material) into the structured mold, forming the plates from this plasticized polymer. In this variant the tool temperature is kept constant. With a multicavity-mold the cycle time can accordingly be shortened, and the output quantity of plates per cycle increased (Fig. 12). [Pg.317]

More than 85% of urea resins are used as woodwork glue. Smaller amounts are used as lacquer resins, molded structure, molding resins, and foams. [Pg.488]

Mold maintenance depends very strongly on the specific conditions of the mold. It is therefore possible that the same rules apply as for standard molds. It is also often necessary to consider the specifics, especially mechanical cleaning methods, which can cause damage in the micro-structured molded parts. [Pg.304]

To meet the accuracy requirements that are placed on injection molds, it can be useful to perform the machining of the outer contour of the galvanized structured mold inserts before the model is pulled out of the galvanized insert. [Pg.534]

The deformation of copper plates presented specific regularity subject to cooling structure, mold geometry and heat-transfer conditions and maximums are 0.34 mm and 0.4 mm on wide and narrow face reflectively and appeared m meniscus. [Pg.416]
