Strawberry application

This assay has been used to determine the antioxidant activity of common vegetables, fruits including apples and strawberries (Eberhardt and others 2000 Chu and others 2002 Sun and others 2002 MacLean and others 2003 Meyers and others 2003), and fruit juices (Lichtenthaler and Marx 2005). No studies have yet reported the application of TOSC assay for the assessment of in vivo antioxidant status.

Witkonton and Ercegovich (1972) studied the transformation of chlordimeform in six different fruits following foliar spray application. They found //-chloro-o-formotoluidide was the only major metabolite identified in apples, pears, cherries, plums, strawberries, and peaches. Chemical/Physical. Reacts with acids forming soluble salts (Hartley and Kidd, 1987). 

Spray application of formulated C-dichlofluanid (Euparen) to flowering strawberry plants in a closed controlled ventilated cultivating system resulted in a recovery of 99 % radiocarbon after 36 days (Table I).

The treated dormant plants produced longer petioles and appeared in a vegetative condition two weeks after treatment was initiated. These results are similar to those reported by Thompson and Guttridge (4) and Porlingas and Boynton (2), who comment on the vegetative stimulation caused by application of gibberellins to strawberry plants. 

The results of the chromatographic analysis are reported in Table V. The presence of IAA in vegetative strawberry tissue was confirmed, but no simple relationship between free extractable IAA and applications of potassium gibberel-late could be observed. The compositing of plant tissues prevented the statistical analysis of these data.
