Definition. A bulk storage plant is that portion of a property where flammable liquids are received by tank vessel, pipelines, tank car, or tank vehicle, and are stored or blended in bulk for the purpose of distributing such liquids by tank vessel, pipeline, tank car, tank vehicle, portable tank, or container. 

Class I Locations. Table 515-2 shall be applied where Class I liquids are stored, handled, or dispensed and shall be used to delineate and classify bulk storage plants. The Class I location shall not extend beyond a floor, wall, roof, or other solid partition that has no communicating openings.

Hepatic Effects. Hepatic effects have been reported in humans following long-term exposure to 1,4-diehlorobenzene via inhalation. A 60-year-old man and his wife who were exposed to mothball vapor that "saturated" their home for 3-4 months both died of liver failure (acute liver atrophy) within a year of the initial exposure (Cotter 1953). Yellow atrophy and cirrhosis of the liver were reported in a 34-year-old woman who demonstrated 1,4-dichlorobenzene products in a department store and in a 52-year-old man who used 1,4-diehlorobenzene occupationally in a fur storage plant for about 2 years (Cotter 1953). Duration of exposure was not estimated for the 34-year-old woman, but was indicated in the report to be more than 1 year. No estimates of the 1,4-diehlorobenzene exposure levels (other than the use of the term saturated ) were provided in any of these reports, nor was it verified that... 

Storage. Plants contain special storage proteins, which are also important for human nutrition (not shown). In animals, muscle proteins constitute a nutrient reserve that can be mobilized in emergencies. 

In a large cold-storage plant ammonia is used as the refrigerant and in one application 1.2 x 107 kJ/h must be removed by condensing the ammonia at 85°F with an array of tubes with walls maintained at 78°F. Select several tube sizes, lengths, and array dimensions which might be used to accomplish the task. hfK = 1148 kJ/kg at 85°F.
