Storability

Iodine pentafluoride is an easily storable Hquid source of fluorine having Httie of the hazards associated with other fluorine sources. It is used as a selective fluorinating agent for organic compounds. For example, it adds iodine and fluorine to tetrafluoroethylene in a commercial process to produce a usefiil telomer (124). [Pg.187]

Materials of Construction. In choosing the proper materials of constmction for storing and using hydrazine, it is necessary to consider both the effects of the material on the stabiUty and quaUty of the hydrazine as well as the effect of the hydrazine on the material of constmction. Hydrazine is thermally stable, storable for years without adverse effects either to the product or the storage container provided the recommended materials are used, all systems are clean, and an inert gas, ie, nitrogen, is maintained over the system at all times. Table 10 is a brief listing of materials compatibiUty (125). [Pg.286]

Condensed molasses solubles (CMS) is a product made by drying molasses (spray or dmm drying) on a neutral carrier CMS is a more portable and storable form of molasses for animal feed. [Pg.21]

Physical Properties. Sodium metabisulfite (sodium pyrosulfite, sodium bisulfite (a misnomer)), Na2S20, is a white granular or powdered salt (specific gravity 1.48) and is storable when kept dry and protected from air. In the presence of traces of water it develops an odor of sulfur dioxide and in moist air it decomposes with loss of part of its SO2 content and by oxidation to sodium sulfate. Dry sodium metabisulfite is more stable to oxidation than dry sodium sulfite. At low temperatures, sodium metabisulfite forms hydrates with 6 and 7 moles of water. The solubiHty of sodium metabisulfite in water is 39.5 wt % at 20°C, 41.6 wt % at 40°C, and 44.6 wt % at 60°C (340). Sodium metabisulfite is fairly soluble in glycerol and slightly soluble in alcohol. [Pg.149]

This method is suitable for the preparation of BOC, Fmoc, Adoc, and Bpoc protected amino acids. The acid chloride is a stable, storable solid. ... [Pg.335]

Chromatograms can be made handleable and storable by treatment with plastic dispersions, based on polyacrylic ester, polyvinyl chloride or polyvinyl propionate, such as, for example, Neatan (Merck) [21 — 23]. In order to avoid clogging the spray head with plastic dispersion residue it is recommended that it be rinsed through immediately after use with tetrahydrofuran or that disposable jets be employed [24]. [Pg.134]

Rocket engines arc also used for maneuvers in space. Some operations, such as a onetime transfer of a satellite from lower to higher orbit, could be performed by a solid-propellant engine. Yet many complex maneuvers, such as rendezvous and docking with another spacecraft, require multiple engine firings and variable power impulses. Hence modern spacecraft are equipped with an assortment of attitude control engines that usually use liquid storable propellant. [Pg.1072]

Raw materials. Most luminous organisms can be stored at —70°C or below under aerobic conditions, or with dry ice, without a significant loss of luminescence activity for a period of several months or more, although a trial is always recommended. Even if a substance already extracted is unstable when stored with dry ice (like the luciferase of Cypridina and the luciferins of euphausiids and dinoflag-ellates), the same substance in the organisms before extraction can be safely stored at — 70° C or with dry ice. The material can also be stored with liquid nitrogen for added safety, but the quantity storable in a laboratory setup (e.g., Dewar flask) is limited. [Pg.356]

Historically, storability, ignitibility and burn time have been recurring problems in tracer munition fabrication. The endothermic decompn of metal salt oxidizers and the brief exposure to the propint flame (0.5j-2msec) brought about the need for special igniters and... [Pg.985]

In devices which can tolerate moderate ignition delay, further development of non-primary initiators (Refs 31, 77, 97 112) will extend the storability, the manufacturing safety, the electromagnetic Held and spark sensitivity and the high temp compatibility of pyrotechnic devices... [Pg.995]
