Stop-start function

The hybrid technology onboard the S-Class, of the mild hybrid type, has a 15-kW electric motor with stop start function, coupled to a V6 petrol engine the combined power is 220 kW and the maximum combined torque is 385 Nm. The lithium-ion battery pack is not only compact (directly installed in the engine compartment [Figure 10.10]) and light but also with a rather limited energy capacity. [Pg.218]

A starter or contactor with manual push-button or thermostatic operation to start and stop the fan normally controls simple systems. More complex systems that incorporate components that need control or monitoring are normally operated from purpose-built central control panels. The most common functions provided are fan motor stop, start and speed control, damper control, filter-condition indication and heater battery control. For optimum control, the system should be automatically controlled from thermostats or other sensors and a timeswitch. [Pg.423]

Metabolic means is understood as an action which involves an alteration, including stopping, starting or changing the speed of the normal chemical processes participating in, and available for, normal body function. [Pg.110]

Bring the work equipment to a complete stop >- Switch off all energy sources after stopping the functioning of the work equipment >- Operate in priority to any control which starts or changes the operating conditions of the work equipment... [Pg.388]

Micro-Electromechanical Systems The measure of the intelligence of this and other systems is both the range and time of response to changes in the monitored equipment or environment. This is most often ensured by micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS), miniature components which measure and process such parameters as acceleration, pressure, distance, temperature, light and the chemical composition of an atmosphere. The heart of MEMS is a processing unit (microprocessor) made in the form of an integrated circuit on a silicon board. The board is then chemically etched and layers of other materials are deposited to make a sensor. Typical features of a MEMS fabricated in this way are shown in Fig. 7.5. Thanks to their small size, sensors in MEMS are characterised by low inertia, which makes it possible to quickly start and stop their functions. Moreover, thanks to their integration with the microprocessor in one substrate, their response to external stimuli is sent to the microprocessor almost immediately. [Pg.82]

The titrant in a conventional titration is replaced in a coulometric titration by a constant-current source whose current is analogous to the titrant s molarity. The time needed for an exhaustive electrolysis takes the place of the volume of titrant, and the switch for starting and stopping the electrolysis serves the same function as a buret s stopcock. [Pg.501]

Magnetic motor starters are similar in function to manual starters except that thev are solenoid-operated, Thev are available up to 3730 kW (5()()0 hp). One of the main advantages is the convenience of electrical operation. Start-stop push buttons can be located anywhere, lien automatic or remote operation is needed, magnetic starters are essential. [Pg.2488]

The advantage of using frequency converters is that the possibility exists to use a ramp function when starting and stopping the motor (soft start). By using this function, it is possible to avoid starting both fans at full speed with closed dampers it also reduces stresses on the fan transmission (belts) at the start. [Pg.782]

I will present here the properties of various sources when the random variable considered is the field intensity. In this case, one has access to the mean and variance via a simple photodetector. The autocorrelation function can be interpreted as the probability of detecting one photon at time t + t when one photon has been detected at time t. The measurement is done using a pair of photodetectors in a start stop arrangement (Kimble et al., 1977). The system is usually considered stationary so that the autocorrelation function, which is denoted depends only on r and is defined by ... [Pg.355]

A thick is deposited on top. This is then covered with a molecularly thin film of lubricant to minimize wear during start-stop contacts and to passivate the disc surface against contamination and corrosion. High-molecular-weight perfluoropolyalkylether (PFPE) polymers are widely used for this purpose. In order to improve surface bonding, the PFPEs are modified with specific functional end groups. All these molecules have similar backbone structures, namely ... [Pg.266]

Any START statement any STOP statement any assignment statement u t where u is a variable and t is an extended functional term. [Pg.133]

If the flowchart P has a loop-free graph - if P is a tree - then the construction of W(P,A,B) is now quite simple. If P is loop-free there are only a finite number of paths 0, ...,on from START to STOP which are consistent and hence execution sequences. The input condition A(X) is a function only of the inputs, of course, while the output condition B(X,Y) can be regarded as a function of the input and of the final values of all the program variables (some of these values, of course, may play no role in the statement of the condition). Notice that under these conditions, when is a complete execution sequence from START to STOP, the path verification condition VCPjO AB, ) for any interpretation I is a function of the input X alone. [Pg.158]

For every Turing machine T one can construct a total recursive function g such that g(n) = n if T started on the initially balnk tape does not stop within n steps and g(n) = n + 1 if T started on the initially blank tape stops within n steps. This function is the identity if and only if T diverges on the initially blank tape. Hence it is not partially decidable whether a total recursive function computes the identity this settles (10). ... [Pg.212]

Solar-type stars start destroying Li soon after their arrival on the ZAMS. The difference in the average Li between the Pleiades and the 2 Gyr clusters implies depletion timescales of the order of 1 Gyr. After 2 Gyr they become extremely long for part of the stars (Li depletion virtually stops) or very short for another fraction. The Sun belongs to the second category and, as such, it is not representative of all stars with the same mass, age, and metallicity. Li depletion is clearly not a monotonic function of age and at least one additional... [Pg.177]
