Steam curing

Calcium Silicates. Cements aie hydiated at elevated tempeiatuies foi the commercial manufacture of concrete products. Using low pressure steam curing or hydrothermal treatment above 100°C at pressures above atmospheric, the products formed from calcium siUcates are often the same as the hydrates formed from their oxide constituents. Hence lime and siUca ate ftequendy used in various proportions with or without Portland cement in the manufacture of calcium siUcate hydrate products. Some of these compounds are Hsted in Table 6. [Pg.287]

Hydraulic limes (84) may be used for mortar, stucco, or the scratch coat for plaster. They harden slowly under water, whereas high calcium limes, after slaking with water, harden in air to form the carbonate but not under water at ordinary temperatures. However, at elevated temperatures achieved with steam curing, lime—silica sand mixtures do react to produce durable products such as sand—lime bricks. [Pg.296]

This term is synonymous with vulcanisation but is generally applied to the factory methods of vulcanising mbber products, e.g., press curing, open steam curing, cold curing. [Pg.20]

In open steam curing that period of time during which the temperature is raised gradually from room temperature to the actual curing temperature. [Pg.54]

Water in the gaseous state it is a convenient source of heat widely used in the curing of rubber products. See Open-Steam Curing, Press Curing. Steam is really a colourless gas and what is usually termed steam (issuing from an autoclave, a press, thermometer bleed pipe, etc.) is really droplets of water which result from the steam meeting the cooler air of the atmosphere. Steam Trap... [Pg.60]

Admixture formulations containing two or more compounds (multicomponent) in which each component plays a specific role or compliments the corrosion resistance capacities of the other are also used. For example, a mixture of calcium nitrite and calcium formate is used to both accelerate strength of the concrete and inhibit corrosion of the steel during steam curing. [Pg.331]

Some of the technical properties of ebonite are appreciably affected by the method of cure. In open steam curing, the external pressure is limited to a few atmospheres of steam pressure. The direct... [Pg.42]

In open steam cure of linings and tubes and rods it is important that the ebonite does not flatten under self weight. Addition of ebonite dust and mineral fillers or reclaimed rubber increases the stiffness of the green stock and reduces the tendency for loss of shape. [Pg.43]

Atmospheric steam cure - Same as exhaust steam cure. [Pg.263]

Condense - Water from condensed steam which lies in the bottom of a pressure vessel or exhaust steam cured tank. It can prevent proper cure. [Pg.265]

Exhaust steam cure - Non-pressurized steam cure. A method commonly used for large tanks which cannot be pressurized. [Pg.266]

Open steam cure - A method of vulcanization in which the steam is in direct contact with the product being vulcanized at atmospheric pressure. [Pg.269]

Steam cure (open) - A method of vulcanizing rubber parts by exposing them directly to steam. [Pg.271]

Cross-linkable LDPE, used in insulating power cables, requires long residence in steam curing tubes 100-300 m long. [Pg.727]
