Statistical analysis history

This paper deals with the technique of product modelling, using a case history. The case history illustrates the technique of experimental design, the method of product testing, and the use of the microcomputer for data acquisition, statistical analysis, and modelling/optimization. As such, the paper provides both methodology and substantive data. [Pg.51]

In an application of this model for assessing factors that cause large interindividual variations in the clearance of theophylline (37), the authors clearly recognized its limitations and this requirement that the conclusions be tested by a prospective controlled experiment "The factors identified as important in theophylline body clearances are associations found by retrospective statistical analysis which need not imply a cause-and-effect relationship, especially where a pathophysiological or drug interaction rationale does not exist. Often these factors need further confirmation by prospective examination of cohorts of subjects with the disease or history in question."... [Pg.78]

A medical record contains personal data, a summary of medical history, and documentation of medical events, including symptoms, diagnoses, treatments, and outcomes. Its main purpose is to provide essential facts for medical diagnoses. It also forms the first link in the information chain, producing the depersonalized aggregated data for knowledge discovery and statistical analysis. [Pg.251]

When OIT values are compared within quality assurance or case history studies, the random distribution of the individual measurements must be taken into accoimt and the significance of statements about changes must be proved using a statistical analysis. The relevant statistical method is described for example in (Hald 1952 Motulsky 1995). [Pg.68]

Several types of results were obtained from the application of the slip-predictable stochastic model with the geophysical ground motion characterization. These included the development of synthetic ground motion attenuation laws, simulation of time histories, computation of risk-consistent response spectra, statistical analysis of durations of strong ground motion, and estimation of power spectral densities. In this paper we present a sampling of the estimated forecasts useful for structural response and damage analysis. [Pg.250]

The activation energy in the table above is obtained from statistical analysis of test data after a large number of samples. But for aerospace electronic products, because of the lack of history test information, the unknown parameters in the acceleration model is often difficult to obtain by assessment especially for the lack of 1 1 life test failure data, m ng it difficult to obtain aerospace electronics acceleration life. The following methods can solve this problem to some extent. [Pg.1820]

The Seismic Safety Margins Research Program developed a computer code called SMACS (Seismic Methodology Analysis Chain with Statistics) for calculating the seismic responses of structures, systems, and components. This code links the seismic input as ensembles of acceleration time histories with the calculations of the soil-structure interactions, the responses of major structures, and the responses of subsystems. Since uses a multi-support approach to perform the time-history response calculations for piping subsystems, the correlations between component responses can be handled explicitly. SMACS is an example of the codes that are available for calculating seismic response for PSA purposes. [Pg.192]
