Speciation genera

All types of environmental monitoring-derived isolates shall be identified to the genus level and to the species level (if possible). Speciation or biocharacterization of specific or all organisms, as requested, should be undertaken according to the following ... [Pg.768]

Viruses, whole cells and spores can also be detected by direct interaction with antibodies immobilized on the sensor surface (Fig. 9.5.7). If a genus specific antibody is used as the capture antibody, species-specific antibodies can be used to speciate the captured analyte. [Pg.251]

It seems, that species of Claviceps should be considered predominantly parasites of panicoids. The colonization of chloridoid and pooid hosts is somewhat obscured by the vast occurrence of C. purpurea, but in fact it is as marginal as the occurrence on cyperaceous hosts. The distribution of Claviceps species suggests, that the genus origin probably dates from the period of the expansion of panicoids from South America in the Late Cretaceous. The speciation then continued independently on all continents of the former... [Pg.71]

Very local endemic species from these families do occur in the Yungas of La Paz but are almost totally absent from the Rfo Pilcomayo drainage system. With 10 species of Salvia endemic to the Rfo Grande basin and these from different subsections of the genus (J.R.I. Wood, in prep.), and numerous endemics from different genera in the three families under discussion here, it is clear that this basin has been an important centre of speciation and is rich in endemics. What is not certainly known is how far this pattern is repeated over other families, and further research will be necessary to demonstrate this clearly. [Pg.253]
