Special Forces

To define the thennodynamic state of a system one must specify fhe values of a minimum number of variables, enough to reproduce the system with all its macroscopic properties. If special forces (surface effecls, external fields—electric, magnetic, gravitational, etc) are absent, or if the bulk properties are insensitive to these forces, e.g. the weak terrestrial magnetic field, it ordinarily suffices—for a one-component system—to specify fliree variables, e.g. fhe femperature T, the pressure p and the number of moles n, or an equivalent set. For example, if the volume of a surface layer is negligible in comparison with the total volume, surface effects usually contribute negligibly to bulk thennodynamic properties. 

Security Assistance. A Turkish-lead, U.S-supported program to provide security assistance to various Central Asian states, would certainly offer an alternative to the Russian option, or the politically unacceptable idea of direct U.S. engagement. Turkish experience in combating terrorism and insurgency, training and use of special forces in mountainous terrain and urban areas, and adept use of attack helicopters could in a relatively short time change the dynamics of actual and potential conflict in favor of the governments in countries such as Uzbekistan. 

Incapacitating agents have been stockpiled by numerous countries and there have been unverified reports that they have been utilized on the battlefield. The emulsion copolymerization of styrene and butadiene to form the synthetic rubber SBR is carried out in a multistage CSTR. 

The system parameter values depend on the particular application. When a house or a factory is to be monitored for intrusion detection, the cost of false alarms is relatively low. On the other hand, the financial and personnel cost of a false alarm is significantly higher when the perimeter security of a nuclear reactor is to be provided by deploying a SWSN to monitor unauthorized access. The cost of a false alarm might involve the transportation of special forces and/or personnel of related government agencies to the site, as well as the evacuation of residents in the surrounding area.

One young captain s attention wanders shortly as he thinks of some of his Special Forces personnel. Bitter memories of friends cut down by hooded snipers, cowards who fire from the windows of ordinary homes, continue to haunt them. Even when they see them run inside a building, the need to minimize collateral casualties forces the coalition units to hold their fire. Their M-16 rifles and highly accurate shoulder-mounted missiles have to wait until the unfriendly target is clearly isolated, lest they bring down a mother and child along with a black-scarfed terrorist. 

It is important to emphasize that this kind of chemical relatedness does not need to assume any special effect other than the normal laws of chemistry and physics. As already mentioned, special effects are often invoked in the literature -particularly in the old British emergentism. This has been one of the reasons why emergentism in general has been criticized, and once special forces are eliminated from the picture, then this criticism immediately loses validity, as pointed out by Schroder (1998) in his criticism of McLaughlin (1992).

An ideal liquid solution is a hypothetical mixture of liquids in which there is no special force of attraction between the components of the solution and for which no change in internal energy occurs on mixing.
