Higher strength and modulus technical cellulose fibres have been spun from phosphoric acid by the Acordis research group of Boerstoel et al. [54] giving fibres with strengths of 1.7 GPa, moduli of 44 GPa and elongations at break of 5% [54]. This fibre B never went into production though, probably due to the impractical solvent. A liquid crystalline system for fibre spinning of cellulose carbamate from NMMO solution is described in reference [55], Cellulose is regenerated analogous to the viscose method (derivative process) and fibres are obtained with strengths of almost 1 GPa and moduli of 49 GPa.
