Some articles of general interest for the present topics have been reported. 

Most public libraries subscribe to database services such as InfoTrac or EBSCO that index articles from hundreds of general-interest periodicals (and some moderately specialized ones). The database can be searched by author or by words in the title, subject headings, and sometimes words found anywhere in the article text. Depending on the database used, hits in the database can result in just a bibliographical description (author, tide, pages, periodical name, issue date), a description plus an abstract (a paragraph summarizing the contents of the article), or the full text of the article itself. 

Indexes list magazines, journals, newspapers, audio and video sources, books, and collections that contain material you may wish to consult. Most of these indexes are now available on computer databases you will probably find the most current information there because databases are frequently updated. Some printed indexes, in contrast, may be revised and published only once a year. However, if electronic databases are not accessible, you can always turn to the print versions available at your library. For example, if you think your topic has been the subject of articles in general-interest magazines, you might consult The Reader s Guide to Periodical Literature for newspaper articles, you might check The New York Times Index or the National Newspaper... 

Numerous texts and articles in scientific journals discussing every aspect of the IR business and detection of electromagnetic radiation are available. We mention here a few that are of general interest. They are listed in chronological order, and we have provided some early papers for historical interest, as well as some more current papers. 

What are some characteristics of writing intended for a general audience Find an article in your local newspaper about a science topic. How has the author attempted to make the article interesting and accessible to nonscientists Consider features such as illustrations, the lengths of sentences and paragraphs, descriptive language, and the use of direct quotes. 

The search continues for a general tumor-scanning agent. Although several radionuclides have been found to localize tumors of widely different types and regions of the body, current interest is in the use of 67 Ga-citrate, which is undergoing a wide clinical trial and may prove to be useful in the localization of lymphomas as well as some adenocarcinomas. This article provides general information on many aspects of the chemical control of insect pests as developed during the twentieth century. It summarizes the chemistry, properties, uses, and advantages and disadvantages of most of the chemicals used for insect control, including many products of largely historical interest as well as some not registered for use in the United States but used elsewhere in the wodd (11—18). 

This chapter will concentrate primarily on features of the chemistry of diboron compounds of particular interest from the organometallic point of view. While our limited scope does not permit a comprehensive review of all aspects of diboron chemistry, we will initially survey some general features of the subject, with emphasis on unique synthetic aspects and on properties particularly characteristic of compounds containing a simple electron-pair bond between boron atoms. Previously, we published several review articles provided some aspects on boron chemistry,8 16 and including natural boron-containing compounds.17,18...
