Softeners

Charge water and add Makon 10 while mixing. Slowly add Accosoft 750 while mixing and mix until homogeneous. [Pg.138]

The viscosity of this formulation can be reduced by the addition of ethanol if desired. Fabric softeners made with an Accosoft product are non-yellowing, control static and maintain rewet properties of the fabric. [Pg.138]

The principal characteristics of bitumen are its softening point and its needle penetrability. In France the latter has always been the basis for bitumen classification and class designation. Yet, the former is more representative of a bitumen s capacity to deform when the service temperature increases. The other properties have more or less importance depending on the application. [Pg.289]

Softening point for bitumen (ring and ball method) NF T 66-008 (future NF EN 1427) ASTM D 36 Temperature at which a ball passes through tin asphalt sample disk attached to a ring... [Pg.450]

Specimens used in tests were sections of cables with PVC outer coating. PVC was plasticized with DOF softener. The materials considered were exposed to the radiation and thermal aging. The samples have been irradiated at room temperature by hard gamma rays with 10 rad/sec dose power. A number of samples had been heated for long different times at 90°C. Besides a special specimens were cut out from outer coating for test on tensile machine like "Instron". The total doses of irradiation, times of heating and elongations at break obtained with "Instron" are listed in Table 1. [Pg.244]

When silica is fused,. silica glass is formed. This has advantages over ordinary glass in that it is much less easily fused (it softens at about 1800 K). and has a very low coefficient of expansion. It is. therefore, used for crucibles and other articles required to be infusible... [Pg.186]

Glass is the name given to any amorphous solid produced when a liquid solidifies. Glasses are non-crystalline and isotropic, i.e. their physical properties are independent of the direction in which they are measured. When a glass is heated, it does not melt at a fixed temperature but gradually softens until a liquid is obtained. [Pg.188]

A salt originally called sodium hexametaphosphate, with n believed to be 6, is now thought to contain many much larger anion aggregates. It has the important property that it sequesters , i.e. removes, calcium ions from solution. Hence it is much used as a water-softener. [Pg.247]

However, the deposition of salts from temporarily hard water in boilers, and so on (for example the fur found in kettles) makes it desirable to soften such water for domestic and industrial use. Very... [Pg.273]

An extension of these calculations to cationic dialkylamide salts required an even more complex model [Adolf et al. 1995]. These molecules have the general formula (CH3)2N [(CH2) iCH3][(CH2)m-iCH3]CK and the isomer with m = m = 18 is one of the main active ingredients in commercial fabric softeners. The presence of two long alkyl... [Pg.417]

Succinamide. NHoCOCH2 CH2CONH2. (Method 2(a)). Add 5 ml. (5 8 g.) of dimethyl succinate to a mixture of 50 ml. of water and 25 ml. of concentrated [dy o-88o) aqueous ammonia solution in a 150 ml. conical flask. Cork the flask and shake the contents the dimethyl succinate rapidly dissolves to give a clear solution. Allow the solution to stand after about i hour the succinamide starts to crystallise, and then continues to separate for some time. Next day, filter off the succinamide at the pump, wash with cold water, and drain. Recrystallise from water, from which the succinamide separates as colourless crystals the latter soften at 240° and melt at 254 -255° with... [Pg.119]

Whilst the solution is still hot, add dilute hydrochloric acid until the stirred solution is just acid to litmus, and then distil off as much ethanol as possible, using the water-bath. Now add more dilute hydrochloric acid to the residual hot solution until it is just acid to methyl-orange. The 5,5-dimethyl-cyclohexan-1,3-dione separates as an oil which solidifies on cooling. Filter the product at the pump, wash it with ice-cold water, and dry it in a desiccator. Yield of the pale cream-coloured crystals, 12 g. m.p. 136-145 (preliminary softening). [Pg.278]
