For fruits and vegetables, mince and homogenize 1 kg of the sample with a mixer together with an appropriate amount of water, if necessary, and weigh 50 g of the sample. For small fruit samples such as citron, kabosu lime and rind, weigh 20-25 g of the sample. For beans, after grinding the sample, weigh 20 g of the sample and add 40 mL of distilled water to swell the sample for 2h. 

Ilex paraguariensis var. genuina is an evergreen tree that grows to a height of 20 to 30 m unattended but under cultivation is kept at 4 to 6 m. The leaves are oval or elliptical, 3 to 20 cm in length, 2 to 9 cm in width, dark green in color. Flowers form in the leaf axils and at the base of the small branches. They bear four or five petals and produce a small fruit in racemes that usually contain four seeds.1...

Two varieties of limes are of importance in the commercial production of lime oils the West Indian (Mexican or Key) lime. Citrus aurantifolia (Christm.) Swingle and the Persian (Tahiti) lime, C. latifolia Tanaka. The former has small fruits with many seeds, and the latter bears larger, seedless fruits. West Indian limes are grown primarily in Mexico, the West Indies, and Peru Persian limes are cultivated in Florida and Brazil. 

The berry or the small fruits consist of strawberry, raspberry, blackberry, black currant, blueberry, cranberry and elderberry. The volatiles responsible for the flavour of small fruits are esters, alcohols, ketones, aldehydes, terpenoids, furanones and sulfur compounds (Table 7.3, Figs. 7.1-7.7). As fruit ripen, the concentration of aroma volatiles rapidly increases, closely following pigment formation [43].

The benefits of GA applications to lemons are a more desirable seasonal harvest pattern in relation to market demands, a larger percentage of fruit with a long storage life, and a decrease in the number of small fruit (6). Applications of GA to Clementine mandarins significantly delayed fruit coloring, loss of acid, and an increase in soluble solids (40).

Producers attempt to eliminate perennial weeds in small fruits with soil fumigation and plastic mulches. In caneberry, low rates of simazine can be used in heavier soils. Caneberry has good crop tolerance to other preemergence herbicides such as oryzalin, napropamide, and pendimethalin, though their weed spectrum may be reduced compared to simazine.
