Slotted liner

The bare foot completion, which leaves an open hole section below the previous casing, is cheap, simple and suitable for consolidated formations which have little tendency to collapse. The slotted liner s an uncemented section of casing with small intermittent slots cut along its length, which prevents the hole from collapsing, but allows no selectivity of the interval which will be produced. The cased and cemented horizontal completion does allow a choice of which intervals will be perforated and produced. None of these examples provides any effective sand exclusion it this is required a gravel pack or a pre-packed liner can be used. [Pg.229]

The principal uses of polyfethylene terephthalate) film are electrical, particularly in capacitors, as slot liners for motors and for recording tape. Its high strength and dimensional stability have led to a number of drawing office applications. The film is also a useful packaging material whilst metallised products have a number of uses as a decorative material. [Pg.719]

Slot liners, for example, are used in motor and generator construction to separate and insulate coils of magnet wire from the slot walls in the steel stator, and films are also used to separate different coils of wire from one another (phase separation) in motors. For these applications, materials with good electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties are required. Special grades are applied in capacitors and heat-shrinkable tubing. [Pg.528]

Slotted liners or wire-wrapped screens can help prevent collapse of a horizontal hole, but they may be affected by plugging during placement if the horizontal section collapses while the screen is being run into the well. An alternative is to use prepacked liners or screens (56, 57). These can be screens to which gravel has been bonded or concentric screens... [Pg.425]

Zaleski (II) compared solids control alternatives in horizontal wells (Table II). Slotted liners are the most cost effective. Wire-wrapped screens can be two to three times more expensive than slotted liners for the same reservoir application. Gravel packing is adequate for unconsolidated reservoirs with high flow capacity where maximum performance is desired, as well as in formations with substantial clay content or fines. However, it can be 5-10 times more expensive than the other... [Pg.428]

For formations with broad size distribution, Coberly (74) suggested that slot widths of slotted liners and wire-wrapped screens be two times d10. For more uniform formations, slot size equal to the d10 has been recommended (75). [Pg.430]

The principal uses of biaxially oriented PET film are in capacitors, in slot liners for motors, and for magnetic tape. Although a polar polymer, its electrical insulation properties at room temperature are good (even at high frequencies) because at room temperature, which is well below Tg (69°C), dipole orientation is severely restricted. [Pg.436]

An effective acid diversion technique is needed to overcome uneven acid distribution and obtain good sweep efficiency during stimulation. Mechanical and chemical means are available for acid diversion. Mechanical means include straddle packers and ball sealers, however, they have limited use in openhole, gravel packed and slotted liner completions and are normally expensive [66]. Chemical means can be used in cased and openhole wells. The type of chemical diversion technique depends on the lithology and other reservoir characteristics (temperature, salinity, and hydrogen sulfide content). In carbonate reservoirs, emulsified acids [J6] and viscosity controlled acids [67] have been used to improve sweep... [Pg.344]

Aromatic polyimides have been the subject of much attention as a material for use in the electronics and other leading-edge industries. Films are used in flexible printed circuit boards, as wire and cable wrap, motor-slot liners, transformers and capacitors. Molded parts are used in applications requiring resistance to thermally harsh environments such as automotive transmission parts, thermal and electrical insulators, valve seats, rotary seal rings, thrust washers and discs, bushings. [Pg.14]

Phase to ground faults occur when both coil insulation and the slot liner have been compromised. For the spacecraft (which has an ungrounded power system) a single... [Pg.340]
