Skipped dots

The electrostatic assist process was developed to overcome a specific print defect which had plagued printers and paper makers for years, namely, skipped dots. 

A basecoat is applied to the panel after the filling operation. This is normally a pigmented lacquer or vinyl based material whose function is to hide the surface and provide a uniform color on which the grain will be printed. The basecoat is commonly applied by a curtain coater or more commonly with a roller coater. Obviously, skips in the basecoat, whether the result of deformed application rolls or panel unevenness, cannot be tolerated. Surface depressions not completely filled during the filling operation will not be basecoated and will appear as small white dots on the panel. 

Spot each of the available standards in the designated order. It is suggested that you skip a space between each one. Spot the unknown again. Make a pencil dot to the side of the sample spot. 

A phosphine-free, low-temperature colloidal method for the eontrolled synthesis of PbSe nanocrystals in both zero-dimension (OD) and one-dimension (ID) was demonstrated by Li et. ID Pb(OH)Cl nanowires ( 80 to 160 nm in diameter) is directly used as a Pb preeursor and reacted with a Se precursor to form monodisperse dot-shaped OD cubie PbSe and ID orthorhombic PbSe nanowires. The authors highlighted the novelty of the method in that a fast nucleation step has been skipped and high quality OD and ID PbSe nanocrystals can undergo controlled synthesis within a relatively slow reaction time (2 to 24 h). The nanowires had a mean diameter of 15-24 nm. 

It should however be noted that if the skip is not fully loaded the point at which the two curves will cross (and possibly cause a rope whip problem) will occur earlier in the wind. The curve (dotted blue line) is shown for hoisting an empty skip and crosses that of the exciting frequency much earlier in the wind. A partially loaded skip will have a curve that is somewhere between the empty and fully loaded curves. Much more time is available to build up significant amplitude of rope movement.
