Site-Related Aspects

The APIOOO is a standard plant that is to be placed on a site with parameters bounded by those described in Chapter 2, Site Characteristics, of EDCD (Reference 2.1). The site parameters relate to the seismology, hydrology, meteorology, geology, heat sink and other site-related aspects they are discussed in Chapter 3 of this PCSR. 

The site design parameters relate to seismology, hydrology, meteorology, geology, and other site related aspects. A site is acceptable for construction/operation of an APIOOO plant provided that site specific conditions are within the site design parameters. Such a site is described as acceptable from an engineering point of view. 

Recently Stroebel et al. published the first survey of Internet sites relating to various aspects of luminescence [56], In their classification they cite relevant companies and existing products, general websites, images, movies, and demonstrations for educational purposes. Below are summarized some of these useful websites to which others have been added.

The site selection shall take into account relevant features that might affect the safety of the installation, or be affected by the installation, and the feasibility of carrying out emergency plans. All aspects shall be evaluated for the projected lifetime of the installation and re-evaluated as necessary to ensure the continued acceptability for safety of site related factors. 

Gasmasks or BA (breathable air) sets should be available to site personnel where necessary to permit ordered evacuation. There should be regular realistic exercises, which include regional authorities, to ensure personnel are familiar with the arrangements. There will be a well-equipped off-site emergency center to deal with nonplant related aspects, such as media communications and the interface with the civil authorities. 

This underlines the importance of the site-specific cost aspects (2)-(5) as discussed at the beginning of this section. If the two process-related aspects, proportional contribution of the material cost and process cycle-time, are similar for two products X and Y, then the proportional contribution of the remaining cost categories, namely energy, labor, maintenance, and depreciation, will also be similar. This is also demonstrated for the antibiotic and lantibiotic produced at 50 m scale at a different site.

The selectivity of an electrophile, measured by the extent to which it discriminated either between benzene and toluene, or between the meta- and ara-positions in toluene, was considered to be related to its reactivity.
