Together with China Petroleum Chemical Corp. (Sinopec) in a 50-50 partnership, BASF planned to build its first Verbund project in East Asia - an integrated petrochemical site (IPS) on 220 hectares of land. The core of the project was an ethylene cracker with a capacity of 600,000 tons per year. Nine new plants downstream would be supplied by the cracker, producing 1.7 million metric tons of chemical products for local consumption, including ethylene, aromatics, poly-ethylenes, ethylene oxide and ethylene glycols, acrylic acid, acrylates, oxo alcohols, formic acid, propionic acid, methylamine, and dimethylformamide. [Pg.444]

It is backed by a joint venture between Sinopec, Fujian Province, ExxonMobil and Saudi Aramco. Another new plant that was completed in 2009 is the Dushanzi Integrated Refinery and Petrochemicals Complex in the Xinjiang region of China. Its cost was 4 billion and it is owned by PetroChina and Dushanzi Petrochemical Corp. [Pg.43]

All of the state- and local government-owned plastic producers are under the guidance of the State Petroleum and Chemical Industry Bureau (part of the State Economic and Trade Commission - SETC). The Bureau controls over 750 large plastic companies throughout the country. China Petrochemical Corp (Sinopec) dominates over 90% of China s petrochemical production and directly controls the country s major petrochemical producers, many of whom are key plastics producers and product manufacturers. [Pg.7]

China s two major state-owned companies - China Petrochemical Group Corp (Sinopec Beijing www.sinopec.com) and China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC Beijing www.cnpc.com.cn) - still dominate the production of feedstock ethylene and many petrochemical intermediates and downstream products, and their combined capacity accounts for more than 90% of the country s total output. However, increasingly, Sinopec and CNPC have been partnering with many of the world s leading chemical companies to build world-class petrochemical complexes. [Pg.56]

Sinopec subsidiary Guangzhou Petrochemical Corp (GPC) has completed an 85 000 tpa (tonnes per annum) expansion of its ethylene plant, bringing total capacity to 200 000 tpa. The additional capacity will allow GPC to double its downstream PE capacity to 200 000 tpa, and raise its PP output from 70 000 tpa to 100 000 tpa. [Pg.57]

Shanghai Secco Petrochemicals Co Ltd, a jv company of BP (London, UK www.bp.com), Sinopec and Shanghai Petrochemicals Corp, is building a world-scale complex at Shanghai Chemicals Industry Park in Caojing. The Secco complex, expected to begin operation in 2005, will comprise a 900 000 tpa, naphtha-fed ethylene cracker, plus downstream facilities with combined PE, PP and PS capacity of more than 1 million tpa, plus world-scale styrene, acrylonitrile and other olefins-derivative units. [Pg.57]

An affiliate of Sinopec, Liaoyang Petrochemical Fiber Corp has approximately 27 000 employees. Its major products include ethylene, HDPE, PP, acrylic, nylon-6, nylon-66, polyester chip, ethylene glycol, EO and other chemicals. The company s annual capacities of HDPE and PP are 40 000 tonnes each, and its current ethylene capacity is 130 000 tonnes a year. The organization is actively looking for US partners to set up a joint venture or investment in China. [Pg.98]

Qilu Petrochemical Industrial Corp, a Sinopec affiliate, is one of the largest petrochemical producers in China with nearly 50 000 employees. [Pg.99]

Yangzi Petrochemical Corp (YPC), a Sinopec affiliate and one of China s largest petrochemical producers, has 20 000+ employees and owns 34 sets of production plants, centring around a recently expanded 650 000 tpa ethylene plant and an 850 000 tpa aromatics plant. YPC can now process 8 million tonnes per year of crude oil, to produce four categories of product polyolefin plastics, polyester material, basic organic chemical materials and finished oil. The total commodity volume is more than 6... [Pg.104]
