There are standard formats for labels, but the standards issued by the EU, USA, Canada and Austraha are all largely incompatible, so it is impossible for a producer to produce a single label that meets all requirements. [Pg.275]

For the single labelled arm the limiting behavior of Q(Q)/Q3 at small and large Q(z 1 and z > 1) agrees with that of the full star. Thereby, the crossover of Q from Q3- to the Q2-dependence is much more gentle than that observed for unattached linear PDMS chains [128] or in the case of the 4-arm PIP stars [150] (see Fig. 52). [Pg.102]

The ratio of the amount of n-butane-2-13C to the amount of isobutane produced was, provided measurements were made under conditions where secondary reactions were unimportant (i.e., initial reaction products), constant and independent of temperature, and this ratio was 1/4. At the same time, no scrambling of the 13C occurred i.e, all of the isotopically substituted molecules remained singly labeled. Anderson and Baker (68) speculated that the butane isomerization might have occurred by a recombination of adsorbed surface residues produced by fragmentation of the... [Pg.30]

By using an elegant 13C-labeling study that involved incubation of Phoma sp. with 1-13C and 1,2-13C acetate, Oikawa et al. [9], were able to isolate the proposed biosynthetic intermediate phomactatriene (or Sch 49026), with 13C incorporation from singly labeled acetate units as indicated by in Fig. 8.3. Phomactatriene is strikingly reminiscent of taxadiene, a biosynthetic intermediate for Taxol . The net biosynthesis for both involves geranylgeranyl diphosphate (GGDP) cyclization [9]. It is noteworthy that prior to isolation of phomactins, the only known related structure is cleomeolide, a diterpene from the herb Cleome viscosa [10] that remarkably resembles phomactin H. [Pg.185]

The homonuclear dipolar recoupling technique of radio frequency-driven recoupling (RFDR) involves a hard n pulse per rotor period and its recoupling mechanism is based on the modulation of chemical shift difference [35-37]. When the delta-pulse approximation is relaxed so that the pulse width of the 7t pulse is about one-third of the rotor period, the so-called finite-pulse RFDR (fpRFDR) could selectively reintroduce the homonuclear dipole-dipole interaction under fast MAS conditions [38], Because the recoupling mechanism of fpRFDR does not require the presence of chemical shift difference, it can be applied to study samples with a singly labeled site. For the study of amyloid fibrils, the technique of fpRFDR is usually applied in a constant-time framework (see below). [Pg.51]

AEC is soluble in alcohol and clearing agents, and must be mounted in aqueous mounting media. All other substrates are not soluble in alcohol or clearing agents. They may be dehydrated, cleared, and permanently mounted. These substrates can be used as single labels or to introduce multiple colors in a tissue section as shown for instance in Fig. 6.1 (see Chap. 7). [Pg.15]

The technique may also be done in a single stage if the initial antibody is labelled but this is less convenient and often more expensive than having a single labelled antibody preparation that can be used to detect all antibodies from a single species of donor. [Pg.403]

The results of these calculations have implications on the applicability of the rule of the geometric mean, which indicates that the KIE for a doubly labelled species should be the product of the KIEs for the corresponding singly labelled substrates. For instance, the KIE for the doubly labelled [17] should be the product of the secondary deuterium KIE, ]/ ]> associated with the nontransferring hydrogen and the primary deuterium KIE, / , produced by the transferring hydrogen (equation 58)). [Pg.225]

To simplify comparisons between reactions, we sought to describe entire reactions as a single labeled graph. Just as cause and effect can be considered either as two separate events or as a unified process, changing with time, so a reaction can be perceived as two structures, as shown above, or as a single assembly of nuclei connected by bonds which change with time. The aldol-type reaction just illustrated can be rewritten as follows ... [Pg.212]

Fig. 24. Examples of experimental relaxation curves The vertical scales are arbitrary, horizontal scales (x-values) are linear with a single label. In all cases, the axes cross at the origin (0,0). The upper two plots regard a slow-relaxing sample in which the switching effects described in the text are negligible. The bottom two plots regard a very fast relaxing sample in which switching-interval effects are very pronounced. Fig. 24. Scheme 4). This unexpected enrichment of two neighboring carbons from a single-labeled precursor can be explained by assuming that labeled glycine was introduced into TCA cycle via malate. In the cycle, the molecular asymmetricity will be lost at the succinate step, and the labeling will appear on both C-2 and C-3 of succinate. The result seems to support Scheme Ic, since C-4 and C-3 of glutamate correspond to C-11 and C-12 of the toxin molecule in such a scheme. [Pg.154]

Solvolysis lignin prepared with 2,2-dimethoxypropane (24). c Wood meal singly labeled with 14C was employed. This estimation was made on the basis of radioactivity and UV absorbance (25). [Pg.155]

In these experiments, several doubly and triply labelled compounds were reported.108 So-called UDP-D-[U-I4C, 3,4- H]glucuronic acid was formed by mixing UDP-D-[U-14C]glucuronic acid, UDP-d-[3-3H]glucuronic acid, and UDP-D-[4-3H]glucuronic acid it was not, of course, a triply labelled compound, but a mixture of 3 singly labelled ones.108 This factor prevented any conclusions about intramolecular transfer with doubly or triply labelled compounds to be reached. [Pg.167]

When there are more macroscopic observables B,C,... the process can be continued. The end result is a collection of coarse-grained observables //, A, 5, C, ..., which all commute with one another. The Hilbert space H is decomposed in linear subspaces that are common eigenspaces of these observables. We shall call these subspaces phase cells and indicate them with a single label J. They correspond to definite values of the coarse-grained variables, which we shall now denote by Ej, AJy BJy Cj,. These phase cells are the macrostates. [Pg.453]
