Most commercially available silicone elastomers, and especially those which polymerize by addition-cure, do not, or weakly, adhere to most surfaces. Adhesion promoters known as surface primers are available and are often used to adhere the silicone to the protected... 

Sealants (sealing materials) and compounds (filling materials) are thickflowing pastes which solidify in the cold. They are prepared by mixing low-molecular silicone elastomers with mineral ingredients. Sealants and compounds are supplemented with special catalysts which help them to solidify in the cold. Before using sealants or compounds, the surface of the product is sometimes covered with a sub-layer to improve adhesion. 

At present industry widely manufactures glue sealant Elastosil based on low-molecular silicone elastomers. Besides elastomers, the compositions of these sealants include fillers, plasticisers, solidifiers and adhesive components in some cases pigments are used to give them a colour. 

Similarly, the coammonolysis of a mixture of dimethyldichlorosilane and vinyltrichlorosilane can yield polyvinylmethyldimethylsiloxane varnish, which has a relatively high adhesion to metals, glass and rubber based on silicone elastomers this varnish is also used in glue compositions. The coammonolysis of a mixture of dimethyldichlorosilane and phenyltrichlorosilane produces polydimethylphenylsilazane varnish.

As a coating offers increased anti-icing effectiveness and durability than fluorocarbon and silicone elastomers. These icephobic coats can reduce the accumulation of ice on products such as rooftops, aircraft, radomes, antennas, ships, and power-transmission lines. The weight of such accumulations of ice has led to aircraft crashes, fallen power lines, etc. The icephobic coats reduce the adhesive force between ice and a surface. Polyphosphazene elastomers possess these desired properties, in addition have low glass transition temperature (Tg), good environmental stability, curability, and moderate cost. 

Primary aminoalkylsilanes are important compounds in application fields like adhesion promotion, surface modifying, and crosslinking, but are also used for endcapping of various substrates. Currently in focus is the recently developed endcapper (Fig. 1) which is the key molecule for the preparation of thermoplastic silicone elastomers (TPSE). Modification of silicone resins and fumed silica with 1 leads also to products with interesting economical potential.
