Signal manipulation

A wide variety of signal manipulations analogous to those that are known from NMR [20], and field polarization conditions that are better known from multiple-pulse high-frequency spectroscopy [74-76] have been explored with IR pulse configurations. The basic concepts of 2D-IR spectroscopy have been frequently reviewed [11, 19, 43], and very recently there was another excellent survey of the methodology of 2D spectroscopy [77]. [Pg.19]

To introduce signal manipulation based on Fourier and Hadamard transformations and their appropriate usage for filtering, convolution, deconvolution, integration, data reduction, and background correction... [Pg.55]

This is the first example of electrochemical tuning of lanthanide luminescence and opens up new opportunities for signal manipulation and responsive imaging [60]. The seven-coordinate lanthanide complex with an appended carboxylate-containing arm (Fig. 9.23) has been used as pH responsive probe through change in the molecular structure in solution. An increase in pH deprotonates the carboxylic moiety that in turn binds to the unsaturated lanthanide. This affords dimeric entities in solution where the displacement of solvent molecules triggers an increase in emission intensity proportional to pH [65]. [Pg.352]

The X-ray instrumentation requires a commercial small angle X-ray camera, a standard fine structure X-ray generator and a sample manipulator if scanning is requested. The essential signal is the relative difference between the refraction level Ir and the absorption level Ia. Both levels are measured simultaneously by two scintillation detectors. At fixed angles of deflection this signal depends solely on the inner surface density factor C and thickness d of the sample [2] ... [Pg.558]

Figure 8-41 includes two conventional feedback controllers G i controls Cl by manipulating Mi, and G o controls C9 by manipidating Mo. The output sign s from the feedback controllers serve as input signals to the two decouplers D o and D91. The block diagram is in a simplified form because the load variables and transfer functions for the final control elements and sensors have been omitted. [Pg.737]

Further, the absolute regenerator pressure needs to be limited to a maximum value. This is aehieved by a eontroller PIC that manipulates the expander bypass valve using a high signal seleetor (HSS). [Pg.406]

Several features of ISS quantitative analysis should be noted. First of all, the relative sensitivities for the elements increase monotonically with mass. Essentially none of the other surface spectroscopies exhibit this simplicity. Because of this simple relationship, it is possible to mathematically manipulate the entire ISS spectrum such that the signal intensity is a direct quantitative representation of the surface. This is illustrated in Figure 5, which shows a depth profile of clean electrical connector pins. Atomic concentration can be read roughly as atomic percent direcdy from the approximate scale at the left. [Pg.520]

The ion detection system consists of a high-gain electron multiplier and the signal digitizing system, along with a computer for data acquisition and manipulation. [Pg.589]

A typical LIMS instrument accepts specimens up to 19 mm (0.75 in) in diameter and up to 6 mm in thickness. Custom designed instruments exist, with sample manipulation systems that accept much larger samples, up to a 6-in wafer. Although a flat sample is preferable and is easier to observe with the instrument s optical system, irregular samples are often analyzed. This is possible because ions are produced and extracted from pm-sized regions of the sample, without much influence from nearby topography. However, excessive sample relief is likely to result in reduced ion signal intensity. [Pg.596]

Based on the role of endocannabinoids and cannabinoid receptors in several pathological conditions, the pharmacological manipulation of their levels or action is being developed as a therapeutic strategy. Enhancement of endocannabinoid signalling when this plays uniquely a protective role can be effected in a safer way using (i) cannabis extracts in which the presence of non-psychotropic cannabinoids with therapeutic activity per... [Pg.468]
