Shutdown project specifications

From the preliminary study to actual implementation, the assistance of plant engineers and operators is essential for the success of the project. In many cases, process engineers who design DWC columns are unaware of the site-specific concerns. Thorough and clear communication with them reduces unnecessary time loss and risks during implementation. The concepts and operation modes of the DWC and new devices as well as the start-up and shutdown procedures were explained to the plant engineers and operators. Their questions were clarified with 3-D models and simulation results. 

Answer by Author Our programs have not included specific projects to evaluate fluoride coatings. However, other companies are presently engaged in such efforts. The shock associated with start and shutdown of rocket thrust chambers has had no apparent effect on material compatibility, or metal durability in liquid fluorine. 

The PSA project performed for Sizewell B NPP is one of the most comprehensive PSA projects undertaken. The whole PSA study encompass Level 1, 2 3 analysis, internal and external initiators, and all power states. The results and findings from this study served as a basis for the development of Technical Specifications for shutdown state as well as some more specific operating and emergency procedures. Some hardware improvements, including alternate relief paths, and instrumentation were also introduced as a result of the PSA model for shutdown and low power.
