Short, Walter

The primary indication for ECT in adolescents is the short-term treatment of mood symptoms, depressive or manic (Walter et al., 1999). Mood symptoms in the course of major depression, psychotic depression, bipolar disorder, organic mood disorders, schizophrenia, and schizoaffective disorder respond well to ECT. Psychotic symptoms in mood disorders also respond well to ECT whereas the effectiveness of ECT in the treatment of psychotic symptoms in schizophrenia is doubtful. There are suggestions that other uncommon clinical conditions in adolescents such as catatonia and neuroleptic malignant syndrome also benefit from ECT. The effectiveness of ECT seems to lessen when there is a comorbid personality disorder or drug and/or alcohol problems. There are very few data about usefulness on prepubertal children. 

But any further participation by Duchamp in French exhibits ceased early in 1913. In that year, his work appeared—with much fanfare—on the other side of the Atlantic, in the famous Armory Show mounted in New York from February to March of 1913. Duchamp left France early in the summer of 1915, taking up a more or less permanent residence in America, where he immediately gained the kind of critical notoriety that stubbornly eluded him in Paris. In part, this important exodus was due partly to an invitation extended to Duchamp by an American painter, Walter Pach, and partly, at the very beginning of World War I, to an understandable desire to avoid being called once again to the French colors. In those months, it was obvious that uniformed males led violent and short lives. ... 

All these telling motifs are found compactly presented in Walter Arensberg s self-published Shakespearean Mystery (1928), which 1 now earnesdy enjoin all Duchamp scholars to study. One wonders why they had not done so previously. In short, Arensberg s text represents the faithful mirror image of the cinematic scenario propelling Duchamp s Etant donnas. . . —and that alchemical text has now become a matter of public record.

In 1992, a working draft paper authored by Walter Liiffl, President of the Austrian Federal Chamber of Engineers, described mass murder with Diesel exhaust as a sheer impossibility, 4 Shortly thereafter, he substantiated his view as to the relative harmlessness of Diesel exhaust in an essay,5 which was publicly attacked as well.6...

In 1950 Ralph Shriner was named Editor-in-Chief of Chemical Reviews and ably guided this important review journal in that capacity for 17 years (1950-1966). He was also a member of the Board of Editors of the Journal of Organic Chemistry In 1956 Ralph Shriner was a coauthor with Walter T. Smith, Jr., of a short text, "The Examination of New Organic Compounds, Macro and Semimicro Analytical Methods, a Laboratory Manual," John Wiley and Sons, Inc., New York, N.Y., 136 pp... 

The structures of three cytokine receptor C2HRs and tissue factor (TF) have been determined (see Table I and Chill et al., 2003 Harlos et at, 1994 Josephson et al, 2001 Randal and Kossiakoff, 2001 Thiel et al., 2000 Walter et al, 1995). The general features of the C2HR are shown in Fig. 8. It consists of two /3-sandwich domains, D1 and D2, connected by a short linker containing 1 turn of a- or 3io helix. The cytokine binding site is comprised predominantly of the loops located at the D1 and D2 interface. The N-terminal D1 domain is most distal from the cell membrane, while the G-terminal D2 domain is followed by a short tether of 5-12 amino acids in length before the beginning of the transmembrane helix.
