Early stages of the history of phase transition phenomena related to heat can be found in Ref. 33 Le Chatelier introduced the use of heating rate curves to identify clays [34-371 

Roberts-Austen introduced the differential temperature method [38) 

The term thermal analysis was first used by Tammann (39] 

Kumakov [40] developed a versatile photographic recorder which was utilized in differential thermal analysis (DTA) by the Russian school [41] 

Honda [42, 43] laid the broad foundations of modern thermogravimetry, introducing the thermobalance International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (lUPAC) was established The first commercial thermogravimeter was produced [35]
