Sewerage

Sewerage has become increasingly recognised as one of the major market opportunities for plastics. The market has been extensively exploited in Scandinavia and is now growing in Western Europe generally [30]. [Pg.42]

Many industrial-wastewater streams should be pretreated prior to discharge to municipal sewerage systems or even to a centr industrial sewerage system. Pretreatment of individual streams should be considered whenever these streams might have an adverse effect on the total treatment system. [Pg.2213]

A lighter liquid can spread over and, if immiscible, remain on top of a denser liquid. Thus liquid fuels and many organic liquids will spread on water this may result in a hazard in sumps, pits or sewerage systems and often precludes the use of water as a jet in fire-fighting. [Pg.49]

Dispose of, by special arrangements, chemicals which cannot be admitted to the public sewerage system, e.g. flammable liquids and reagents with high toxicity... [Pg.429]

Sets out the powers and duties of Statutory Undertakers (SUsJ with regard to water supply, the provision of sewerage services and consent requirements for the receipt of trade effluents. [Pg.597]

Develop a list of air pollution issues and discuss possible permitting requirments you may have to face with a treatment plant that relies on both primary and secondary clarifiers for municipal sewerage treatment. [Pg.334]

The control of drainage and sewerage systems and of sewage disposal is governed by federal, state, county and city regulations and varies depending on the specific area. [Pg.20]

Its position should also be considered relative to future sewerage systems. [Pg.27]

A sewerage authority must decide on the level of contamination, which it is prepared to accept into its sewer. The amount of sulfate and of biodegradable matter, which can be allowed, will depend, first, on the quantity and quality of the flow already in the sewer and available to dilute the effluent. The second decision concerns the limits of contaminants which are acceptable into the sewage works. [Pg.484]

If the process cannot be modified to avoid the effluent the sewerage authority may be persuaded to take over its... [Pg.484]

In pollution control in treatment of sewerage and sludge, removal of SOjc and NO from flue gases. [Pg.906]

Discharge of trade effluent into a sewer requires a consent from the Sewerage Undertaker under a procedure set out in the Public Health (Drainage of Trade Premises) Act 1961, Control of Pollution Act 1974 and Water Act 1989. The Environmental Protection Act 1990 is also applicable to prescribed processes and substances. [Pg.355]

All four wastewater treatment systems introduced in this chapter are technically feasible for treating nickel-chromium plating wastewater in order to meet the maximum permissible concentrations shown in Table 6.1 for industrial wastewater discharge into a municipal sewerage system15 or Table 6.2 for discharge to surface waters.21... [Pg.253]
