The virtue of the RIS approach lies in the form of Eq. (3) A global exact average (subject, of course to the simplification of factorizability as set forth in Eq. (l),Eq. (2), and Eq. (3)) over a very large number of chain conformations can be obtained with a simple matrix product, calculable with a trivial computational effort that is provided by any modern Personal Computer. And since each U,- and each F,- can be defined separately, practically any chemical structure will yield to an RIS treatment.

At the end of the SFC separation, the mobile phase is broken down into two phases one mostly gas and the other mostly polar modifier. Polar solutes tend to be nonvolatile and stay with the polar modifier. The gaseous phase can usually be vented. If the mobile phase consists of 5% or 10% modifier, 90-95% can be vented without significant effort. In semiprep chromatography, this is a huge practical advantage over HPLC. The time and the energy saved can be enormous, and in some instances, it makes previously impractical separations practical. 

A way to achieve cooling and supersaturation of mixtures is adiabatic expansion of a gas due to a throttle effect. In the realm of gas and gas-condensate fields, low-temperature separation (LTS) schemes are used, which include a combination of technological processes directed towards cooling of the production from wells to the requisite temperatures to facilitate separation. The LTS scheme is applied after the gas has been purged of most of the mass of liquid phase in the entrance separator, practically without changes of pressure and temperature. LTS is subsequently applied to condense water vapor and heavy hydrocarbons (HC). LTS entails the following processes.
