Sensitivity multiplicity

For the assessment of the side effect potential of the candidate compound on peripheral insulin sensitivity, multiple oGTTs can be performed during the treatment period or the animal study is finished by a hyperinsulinemic-euglycemic glucose clamp study. 

Precision of Measurements. Reading the balance to 0.25 mg. for a 4-gram alloy (and including the approximately sixfold sensitivity multiplication because of differences in the balance and U-tube torque arms) resulted in knowing changes in the alloy composition to about 1/100,000 or to 0.000008 in relative cadmium mole fractions. For the readings to 0.10 mg. the cadmium mole fraction was indicated to 0.000003. The temperature differences between alloy and cadmium were read to 0.01° C., which corresponds to about 3/10,000 in the cadmium activity. Only in Figure 2 is the activity the major source of uncertainty. 

TIR-based techniques that use fluorescence transduction (TIRF) have been used for the majority of the applications discussed above. These platforms, while not currently the gold standard for measurement of many target analytes, do offer advantages over current technologies, such as cell culture, chromatography, and the enzyme-linked immunosorbant assay (ELISA). Advantages include the ability to perform faster, more sensitive, multiple analyte, and real-time measurements.

Depending on the resolving power of the first mass analyzer, ions can be selected either monoisotopically or with multiple isotopes. For practical reasons, and to improve sensitivity, multiple isotope selections (i.e., 2-3 m z units) are preferred, especially for automated runs.
