Factors affecting selectivity

Selected factors affecting crystallinity regarding Tg and Tm are described in Chapter 2. Here we discuss the influence of crystallinity on the mechanical properties of polymers. For thermoplastics the relation between the degree of crystallinity and the physical nature is shown in Table 5.1. The general lack of difference in physical nature shown by largely crystalline polymers at... [Pg.59]

In contrast to the aggressive, unselective attack of the first, and principal carbon removal mechanism, reaction 7 is quite selective. Factors affecting this selectivity are anode gas permeability, temperature, and the presence of impurity oxidation catalysts. [Pg.244]

Besides the diffusivity factor solution concentration (Cq) and selectivity factors affect the rate of the kinetic process. In addition selectivity of the IE is influenced by the variation of the solution concentration. [Pg.187]

Paste Selection — Factors affecting paste are rheology and particle size and shape. For example, Type-4 solder paste is required for pitches under 0.4 mm, based on experimentation showing that four or more solder particles are needed to span the stencil aperture to achieve consistently good solder-paste deposition. Similarly, with 0.3- to 0.4-mm pitch, stencil openings should be between 0.005" and 0.008" wide. Because Type-4 paste has solder particles <0.0014", this criterion is met statistically. Table 2 shows recommended paste types, based on lead pitch. [Pg.18]

Three separate factors affect resolution (1) a column selectivity factor that varies with a, (2) a capacity factor that varies with k (taken usually as fej). and (3) an efficiency factor that depends on the theoretical plate number. [Pg.1107]

Discrimination between exposed and unexposed areas in this process requires the selection of thia zolidine compounds that do not readily undergo alkaline hydrolysis in the absence of silver ions. In a study of model compounds, the rates of hydrolysis of model /V-methyl thia zolidine and A/-octadecyl thiazolidine compounds were compared (47). An alkaline hydrolysis half-life of 33 min was reported for the /V-methyl compound, a half-life of 5525 min (3.8 days) was reported for the corresponding V/-octadecyl compound. Other factors affecting the kinetics include the particular silver ligand chosen and its concentration (48). Polaroid Spectra film introduced silver-assisted thiazolidine cleavage to produce the yellow dye image (49), a system subsequentiy used in 600 Plus and Polacolor Pro 100 films. [Pg.494]

As indicated, one of the factors affecting the selection of a filter is total cost of carrying out the separation with the selected machine. An important component of this cost item is the installed cost of the filter, which starts with the purchase price. [Pg.1723]

RMC can be selectively extracted into butyl acetate. Concentration coefficient 50 was achieved. Factors affecting accuracy and reproducibility of the proposed method were investigated. Method is simple and fast. Detection limit is 0,3 p.g/1 for P(V). [Pg.156]

Sodium dodecylsulphate was selected as an anionic surfactant Factors affecting acid-induced cloud point extraction including surfactant, hydrochloric acid, PAHs, and electrolyte concentration, centrifugation have been examined. Finally, we applied the optimized acid-induced CPE system for combination of the extraction and preconcentration steps with fluorimetric determination of some representatives of PAHs. Suggested means was used for PAHs determination in tap water. [Pg.422]

The selection of a suitable matrix for a composite material involves many factors, and is especially important because the matrix is usually the weak and flexible link in all properties of a two-phase composite material. The matrix selection factors include ability of the matrix to wet the fiber (which affects the fiber-matrix interface strength), ease of processing, resulting laminate quality, and the temperature limit to which the matrix can be subjected. Other performance-related factors include strain-to-failure, environmental resistance, density, and cost. [Pg.392]

The principles and practice of corrosion inhibition have been described in terms of the factors affecting inhibitor performance and selection (principles) and the more important practical situations in which inhibitors are used (practice). For the latter a brief account is given of the nature of the system, the reasons for inhibitor application and the types of inhibitor in use. [Pg.802]

It is that the plastic and the process selected profoundly affect the quality and appearance of the product. For this reason, it is usually unwise to create a design first, and then decide on material and process at least consider all three factors from the start. This seems obvious and logical, but it is frequently ignored in practice, especially when converting a metal design to a plastic material. [Pg.563]
