Sealing cushions

The test section must be sealed off from the start and end shafts by sealing cushions. These are inserted into smooth pipes with an internal coating of epoxy resin. The same applies to the sealing of house connection pipelines in inspection shafts as well as road drains with adaptor pipes. After sealing off, the pipeline is evacuated by means of a vacuum pump that works on the principle of the water jet and is connected to a compressor. [Pg.298]

Return to the Chamber of Indwelling. There, divest yourself of the regalia—all save the white robe and Rose-Croix lamen—and place the dragon diadem upon the cushion that awaits it. Then withdraw consciousness from the golem and absorb your citadel and kingdom back into latency and seal the ceremony. Record, rest, and. .. God save your Majesty. ... [Pg.210]

All three cells utilize neoprene gaskets to cushion the fragile salt crystals from the metal frame. In the case of the sealed and sealed demountable cells, the top neoprene gasket and window have holes drilled in them to coincide with the inlet and outlet ports to facilitate filling the space, created by the spacer,... [Pg.221]

A magnetic breaker is inserted in the side arm B, and the vessel is attached to the vacuum line and evacuated. The lower portion of the apparatus is cooled with liquid nitrogen and the break seal is opened. Because the sudden release of hydrogen pressure into the vacuum line can sometimes propel the breaker upward with considerable speed, it is advisable to cushion the upper surface of the inlet port with glass wool to avoid possible breakage. [Pg.33]

Use (Solid) Mechanical rubber products, lining oilloading hose and reaction equipment, adhesive cement, binder for rocket fuels, coatings for electric wiring, gaskets and seals. (Liquid) Specialty items made by dipping or electrophoresis from the latex. (Foam) Adhesive tape to replace metal fasteners for automotive accessories, seat cushions, carpet backing, sealant. [Pg.881]

The possibUity of using pressme in TLC to achieve constant flow rates and to eliminate the effect of the gas phase on the TLC plate was first described in 1977 [160]. Here, the TLC plate is sealed with a cushion . The pressure, which is apphed to the layer by the cushion, must be higher than that causing the mobile phase to be transported through the layer. Since 1997, fully automatic equipment for OPLC has been available from CAMAG, together with the necessary plates and films sealed at the edges with a polymer [161]. [Pg.248]

Materials may be single or multiple layer. The latter may incorporate plies which provide strength (support plies such as paper, or tough, difficult-to-tear materials such as nylon or polyester), cushioning (paper), a barrier to gases, moisture, light, optimisation of cost (density, yield—basic cost, etc.), good printability, an ability to seal in the presence of contamination,... [Pg.330]

PoroB . [Rogers] Cellular polyurethane used for gaskets, seals, vibration mounts, motor mounts, RF shielding, PCB cushions, spacers, foam-back tapes, athletic padding in automotive, elecyetecmmic industries. [Pg.293]

One other inhibitor type that will prevent cavitation-corrosion is the soluble oil type, which incorporates a light mineral oil plus emulsifiers and adsorption-type inhibitors, such as organic amines. Unfortunately, although effective in controlling cavitation, (possibly by cushioning effects of the adsorbed oil reinforced film) they soften and damage rubber connectors and seals, cause leakage and water loss. When emulsifiers are exhausted, the oil emulsion breaks, and allows oily films to form on heat transfer surfaces. [Pg.389]

Not all plastic cushioning systems rely on the use of foam. Two major alternatives use air to provide resiliency, but are not foams. In bubble wrap, air bubbles of a defined size and pressure are sealed between two plastic sheets. These materials can be used as wrapping material, or as bags or envelopes. Several different sizes of bubbles are available. The larger sizes are intended for heavier duty applica-... [Pg.344]
