Screwed fittings

Storage and Handling. The acid should never be allowed to stand in a line completely sealed between two closed valves or check valves. Excessive pressure caused by thermal expansion of the Hquid can cause leaks or pipe mptures. AH lubricants and packing materials in contact with chlorosulfuric acid must be chemically resistant to the acid. Elanged connections are recommended over screwed fittings and flange guards should be used. [Pg.87]

Steel forged fittings with screwed ends may be installed without pipe dope in the threads and seal-welded (Fig. 10-130) to secure bubble-tight joints with a minimum of welders labor. They are not subject to deformation by pipe wrenches, and such couplings, bushings, and plugs are often used with the screwed fittings below. [Pg.964]

Threadless copper pipe, thinner than ASTM B42, is available with dimensions as in Table 10-34. Solder-end fittings similar to ANSI B16.15 screwed fittings and solder-end valves are used with this pipe. [Pg.973]

Never use screwed fittings in any vacuum system, regardless of size. [Pg.199]

Screwed fittings are used only on sizes 1.5 in. and smaller, flanges or welding otherwise. [Pg.14]

Screwed flanges, Figure 13.33d are used to connect screwed fittings to flanges. They are also sometimes used for alloy pipe which is difficult to weld satisfactorily. [Pg.859]

The experiments were carried out on a semi-industrial fluidized bed reactor, illustrated in Figure 9.6, which shows four different sensor positions (A, B, C and D). Screw fittings were used to mount the sensors in order to secure optimal sensor pickup efficiency. Sensor location A is mounted onto an orifice plate on the main supply line of liquid urea to the reactor nozzles, following Esbensen et al. [5]. The sensors B, C and D are located on the wall of reactor chambers 1, 2 and 4, respectively. [Pg.286]

Screwed fittings should be Class 150 screwed galvanized malleable iron. [Pg.206]

The equipment feed design consisted of a funnel-shaped powder hopper (with no vacuum deaeration system) that was located directly above the rolls. The powder hopper was retrofitted with vacuum deaeration capability. A high compression feed screw, fitted inside the funnel hopper, fed the powder directly into knurled rolls. The compaction trials were conducted with and without vacuum deaeration. The compact was carefully collected directly on a 10-mesh screen. Powder particles, that were not compacted (i.e., those particles which were not attached to the compact, for example, fines bypassing roll compaction and the non-adhering compacted powder particles) were weighed and separated. The compact was not milled. The parameters are noted in Table 4. [Pg.242]

An alternative manufacturing method, used particularly by the Soviet researchers, is based on fitting cones. These are introduced internally or externally (in which case there has to be a screw fitting) [112]. The electrode shaft is either solid or a hollow tube with electrical connection being provided by a spring-loaded contact which links the electrode to the contact pin at the top of the shaft. [Pg.391]

Next, take a six-foot extension cord and cut off the plug. Cut a couple of feet off one of the insulated vires and strip the insulation off an inch from both ends. Wrap one end around a projecting screw. Fit the other end to a small, lead fishing sinker. [Pg.16]
