Screen Printing Ink is applied to part through a finely woven screen. Screen is masked in areas that won t be painted. Economical means for decorating flat or curved surfaces, especially in relatively short runs. Screens, fixture, squeegee conveyorized press setup (for any kind of volume). Open the container of carbon screen-printing ink and check the consistency. The ink should be thick, but flow freely from a spatula. If required, dilute the ink with a screen-printing thinner (HG Thinner) or 2-butoxyethyl acetate. 

Prepare an ink containing 11.2 pi glutaraldehyde, 2 mg BSA and 0.2 mg BSE per gram of 3% (w/v) hydroxyethyl cellulose. This mixture will not have the consistency required of a screen-printing ink. The viscosity should be adjusted by the addition of graphite powder (about 300 mg graphite powder/1 g ink). 

Sterilization is easily accomplished by placing the books in an airtight container and supporting them in such a way that the leaves are fanned out—this is important because penetration between the leaves is essential. A tray of thymol crystals (50 g/m3) is placed close to a 40-watt electric lamp, the heat from which is sufficient to vaporize the crystals. The lamp is switched on for about two hours daily for a week. The chamber should have a glass front so that the position of the books and the vaporization of the thymol can be checked. All materials are safe under this treatment with the exception of oil paints and varnishes and silk-screen printing inks, which are softened. 

Cationic photoinitiators are of basic interest for coating applications, printing plates for silk screen printing inks, photoresists, name plates etc.
