In wool scouring, the contaminants on the wool, mainly grease, dirt, suint, and protein material, are washed off the fiber and remain in the wastewaters either in emulsions or suspension (grease, dirt, protein) or in solution (suint). Centrifugal extraction of the wastewaters produces a grease contaminated with detergent and suint. This product is called wool grease. 

Excellent scouring and dispersing properties forming stable emulsions with processing aids, spinning oils, etc. and compatible with carriers therefore ideal for polyester dyeing.

Some of the commercial uses which the machine suggests are the recovery of oil from soap stock, the dehydration of crude petroleum and emulsions, the separation of amorphous wax from cylinder stock and the recovery of wool grease from waste scouring liquors. A brief description of the last application will make the commercial use of the machine plain. 

The mechanism by which emulsion scouring occurs is attributed to the hydro-phobic portion of the micelle being saturated with the solvent. The micelle, when loaded with solvent, is more effective in solubilising oily impurities from the fabric than is the detergent alone, provided both solvent and emulsifier are properly selected and used. The critical feature of such a solvent is its KB Value, which is a measure of its solvency for a particular oily soil. 

The levels of wool wax and dirt (ash) remaining after conventional scouring are considerably higher on the top than base (Table 4.12). The hard to remove wool wax is principally oxidised wool whose emulsion stability is considerably higher...
