Enterobacterial common antigen is a common component shared by almost all wild-type strains of Enterobacteriaceae. It has been isolated fi om Salmonella montevideo and found to be a linear polymer of l->-4-linked A-acetyl-D-glucosamine and iV-acetyl-D-mannosaminuronic acid, esterified to a limited extent by palmitic and acetic acids. These components accoimt for about 70 per cent of the molecule, with an... [Pg.111]

Serum MBP has been shown to interact with a wide variety of bacteria including strains of Escherichia coli. Salmonella montevideo, Listeria monocytogenes. Streptococci, Neisseria meningitidis. Neisseria cinera and N. subflava [40]. It can also interact with yeasts including Candida albicans and Cryptococcus neoformans, viruses... [Pg.1707]

Bacterial Cultures. Bacterial cultures were obtained from the Kansas State University (KSU) stock culture collection and were stored using the Protected Bead storage system. The following cultures were used for the Salmonella specimen S. lille (UGA), S. montevideo (UGA), S. typhimurium (UGA), S. agona (KSU 05 from CDC outbreak isolate), and S. newport (KSU 06 CDC outbreak isolate). The following cultures were used for the Escherichia coli specimen E. coli 0157 H7 (CDC 01,03), E. coli 0157 H7 (USDA-FSIS 011-82 Rif resistant 100 ppm), E. coli 0157 H7 (ATCC 43895 HUS associated Type I II toxins Rif. Res.) and E. coli ATCC 23740 (Genotype K-12 prototrophic lambda). [Pg.10]

A feature of many of these storage studies is that they demonstrate selective shifts in serotype distribution during prolonged storage S. typhimurium is more resistant than S. senftenberg on frozen and chilled meat surfaces S. east bourne is particularly resistant to low a in milk chocolate , S. montevideo and lactose-fermenting Salmonella are associated with dried milk products, and S. [Pg.91]
