Sagging pattern

Thus, a sag pattern can be a relatively reliable indicator that the steel was exposed to a temperature of at least 1,1 00°F (575°C), but, the maximum temperature above 1,100°F (575°C) cannot be accurately determined without additional evidence. [Pg.84]

Not all evidence is simple to diagnose. Steel weakens at approximately 1100°F (575°C).(i3) Steel exposed to 1500°F (816°C) for a short period can begin to fail and show the same degree of damage as steel exposed to a lower temperature for a longer period of time. Thus, a sag pattern can be a relatively reliable indicator that the steel was exposed to a temperature oi at least 1100°F (575°C), but, the maximum temperature above 1100°F (575°C) cannot be accurately determined without additional evidence. [Pg.166]

Most studies of halogenosilanes have been concerned with the methylsilanes (Section ll.C). The data that have been collected for the mixed silicon halides Y4 SiX (26,57) are presented graphically in Fig. 12. In contrast to the methylhalogenosilanes (Me4 SiF is shown in Fig. 12 for comparison), the sagging" pattern, which is apparently... [Pg.237]

The sagging pattern which is so characteristic of sequential halogen substitution in alkyl and aryl silanes is not observed in the simple mixed silicon halides (Y4 SiX ). The sagging pattern apparently arises as a result of a substantial electronegativity difference between X and Y which is not present in the mixed halides. The chemical shift trends for the mixed halosilanes are shown in Figure ll69,70. [Pg.529]

Soot deposits, melt patterns, metal sag patterns, residue build-up, fracture patterns, and unusual marks can help develop an overall damage pattern, as can observations as to which sides of buildings and equipment items were most impacted. [Pg.484]

The hulk solution may become depleted. In free-convection experiments, the cathode and anode compartments are often separated by a diaphragm to prevent interaction of the convection patterns. Under these conditions, replenishment of the catholyte does not take place. Examples of sagging limiting-current plateaus caused by bulk depletion can be found in... [Pg.240]

While the observations summarized above might imply that Th2 cells are more resistant to SEB-induced apoptosis than Thl cells in subjects with normal cytokine balances, studies of polarized T cell lines indicate that Th2 cells are more resistant to activation-induced cell death than Thl cells [50, 51]. Consistently, T cell responses to SAgs usually involve Thl cells and release of the cytokines IL-2, TNF-(3, and INF-y, rather than the usual pattern of induction of a Th2 response by exotoxins, which leads to the production of antibody to the exotoxin. It remains to be seen whether B cell SAgs target preferentially Bel or Be2 cells [52],... [Pg.101]

Beyond the surrogate coreceptor idea, considerable evidence exists that the TCR (3-chain and MHC class II molecules may not be the only functional receptors for bacterial SAgs. For example, because SEH was rigorously shown to activate T cells expressing human Va 10, whereas no changes in V(3 patterns... [Pg.172]

The failure of the N2 np <— X E+ spectrum to go entirely over, at high J-values, into an atomic spectrum is primarily a consequence of the nonsphericity of the ag2p valence orbital (composed primarily from 2p orbitals on each N atom). ag2p is a bonding orbital, thus B" > B and the Q-form branches do not collapse into a perfectly line-like feature. More importantly, the ag2p(3ag) orbital has a mixture of united atom characters, of which only sag and dag have the correct symmetry to combine with np u orbitals. Johns and Lepard (1975) conclude that the N2 np <— X intensity pattern is consistent with significant united atom sa character in the ag2p orbital. This experimentally identified sa character is confirmed by calculations (Raoult, et al., 1983), which show 54% s character and 42% d character for this 3ag orbital. [Pg.400]

Figures 11 and 12 show the effects of radiation on the melt strength and draw down ratio of the homopolymer and copolymer, respectively. While the same pattern is observed in both cases, it is noteworthy that the draw down ratio of Kynar 710 is fairly high (up to 130) while the melt force is only 20 cN. As the radiation dose is increased the melt strength increases by up to four-fold at 5 Mrads, however, the processability is maintained. While the draw down ratio can be redueed to below 20 because of ehain branehing, the best effects are at 3 Mrads, where the resin shows proeessability and improved sag resistanee.
