Safety improvement ergonomic approaches

Because safety is the focus, and the team will be asked to observe and improve the work methods in order to attain their goal of 15 safety improvements, ergonomic assessment training is appropriate. Ergonomics seems to most like a mysterious scientific approach used to analyze work. Here is an overview sourced from Wikipedia that supports that thinking. 

The International Ergonomics Association promotes a systematic approach to the ergonomic process, to incorporate human factors and human performance engineering and address problems in design of machines, environments, or systems. This can improve efficiency and safety of the human-machine relationship. The basic steps in the ergonomic process include organization of the process, identification and analyzation the problem, development of a solution, implementation of the solution, and evaluation of the result. 

Every safety approach listed in Figure 1.2 requires that you consider the human element or the psychology of safety. Indeed, the most successful approaches, behavior-based safety and comprehensive ergonomics, directly address the human aspects of safety. The bottom line is illustrated in Figure 1.3. The three employees here are looking at a contributing factor in almost every injury—the human factor. TTius, any safety intervention that improves the safety-related behaviors of workers will prevent workplace injuries.
