Fabricated silicone rubber parts are traditionally made from high consistency silicone gum stock. Because of the stiffness of the gum stock, the material must be worked with rubber masticating equipment and preformed before fabrication. A new fabricating process using a low consistency liquid silicone rubber was introduced by Dow Corning Corporation recently (1, 3). This process is called liquid polymer system (LPS). 

Rubber Parts Manufacturer. May mix his own proprietary compound or purchase one from a custom compounder. The manufacturer then fabricates finished rubber products.

The reconstructed formulations were very similar to the actual recipes. The examples show that by the use of proper analytical techniques rubber formulations can be successfully reconstructed from cured compounds, giving an excellent tool to rubber mixers, fabricators and end-users of rubber parts. 

Techniques used in the actual fabrication of rubber parts are essentially the same as those discussed for plastics as described previously—compression molding, extrusion, and so on. Furthermore, most rubber materials are vulcanized (Section 15.9), and some are reinforced with carbon black (Section 16.2). 

In disinfection of instruments, the chemicals used must not adversely affect the instruments, e.g. cause corrosion of metals, affect clarity or integrity of lenses, or change texture of synthetic polymers. Many materials such as fabrics, rubber, plastics are capable of adsorbing certain disinfectants, e.g. quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs), are adsorbed by fabrics, while phenolics are adsorbed by rubber, the consequence ofthis being a reduction in concentration of active compound. A disinfectant can only exert its effect ifit is in contact with the item being treated. Therefore access to all parts of an instrument or piece of equipment is essential. For small items, total immersion in the disinfectant must also be ensured. 

Fabrics used during the processing of rubber, e.g., liners (linings) and wrapping cloths, which do not become part of the finished product.

The rubber stock, once compounded and mixed, must be molded or transformed into the form of one of the final parts of the tire. This consists of several parallel processes by which the sheeted rubber and other raw materials, such as cord and fabric, are made into the following basic tire components tire beads, tire treads, tire cords, and the tire belts (fabric). Tire beads are coated wires inserted in the pneumatic tire at the point where the tire meets the wheel rim (on which it is mounted) they ensure a seal between the rim and the tire. The tire treads are the part of the tire that meets the road surface their design and composition depend on the use of the tire. Tire cords are woven synthetic fabrics (rayon, nylon, polyester) impregnated with rubber they are the body of the tire and supply it with most of its strength. Tire belts stabilize the tires and prevent the lateral scrubbing or wiping action that causes tread wear. 

A typical automobile tyre consists of several parts (Fig. 5). The tread and sidewall make up the outside of the tyre. The tread is the portion of the tyre that comes into contact with the road, whereas the sidewall, or wall, is the side of the tyre that connects the tread and the bead. The tread is reinforced from underneath by the belt, which comprises a set of fabrics and/or wires. The plies, found in association with the belt, are layers of rubber-coated cords, which are typically made of fabric, polymer, fibreglass, or steel. The set of belts and plies is often collectively referred to as the cord, or cord body, of the tyre. The cords of the tyre wrap around the bead, the part of the tyre that rests on the tyre rim. The bead consists of both mbber bead filler and a series of steel bead wires. The last major part of the tyre, the innerliner, is a low-permeability... 

Paramount among the outlets for petroleum raw materials outside the field of fuels and lubricants are the elastomers and plastics. It is expected that synthetic rubber production in 1951 will exceed 800,000 long tons (1.8 billion pounds) while, during the same period, nearly two billion pounds of plastics also will be produced. It has been demonstrated to the American consumer that synthetic rubber is equal or superior to the natural product for many applications, and plastic products such as nylon fabrics, polyvinyl chloride upholstery, and polystyrene toys and gadgets are now considered a part of our way of life. 

The second part of the claim, which has for its object the removal of the odor of articles fabricated of india-rubber or gutta-percha in which solvents have been used, consists in subjecting the waterproof cloths, whether before or after being made up into garments or...
